The Path

Once upon a time you'd move mountains for me

And I'd sail the seven seas for you

Then one day we came across a road that was split in two

The right; a blank canvas open and free

I felt the pull in my heart, it was calling me

The left; a carbon copy perfectly sketched, lacking originality, conformity at its best

You asked me "What's it going to be?"

Ecstatic to share the life unfolding before me I grinned

I walked towards the path that inaudibly screamed my name as my hand fell freely to my side

I turned with tears in my eyes and a painted on smile

I knew in an instant your desired destination was left

Reality sank in... you chose left when you knew I'd go right

I bid you farewell as you bid me and continued on my journey
