You Can Love Anything

From an early age I learned that you can learn to love anything.

Even when the recipient is undeserving.

I learned that "blood is thicker than water" really translates to "you have to love me no matter how many times I disappoint you"

I learned that independence is greater than dependence

I learned to trust no one

I learned that even the caged bird sing's

I learned to dismiss the icy words you line my way

I learned to love the bruises and scratches, because they make me feel deeper than I've ever felt before

I learned that even if it's wrong, or kills you in the end, you can still love it

You can love anything

Just like the way I learned to love you

And the way you learned to pretend to love me.
