"I feel like I should love you."

Despite all the chatter and background noise permeating the busy streets of the city, Muzan was somehow still able to hear [Name]'s bold yet oblivious statement. He would always be able to hear her.

"You shouldn't." He responded without hesitation, red eyes kept forward, not daring to spare the beautiful girl next to him a glance. The words wouldn't have come out as easily and quick if he did.

A cute, small pout appeared on [Name]'s lips before she narrowed her eyes and looked up at the seemingly emotionless man at her side. "I don't believe you."

"You should."

This made her smile. She shrugged and continued walking with her guardian of sorts, taking in the colored lights emitting from the lanterns above, all going well with the full moon in the sky.

He's weird guardian.. She still remembers him looking at her strangely when she said he reminded her of a angel.

.~.

"Do you think I had a family?" She suddenly blurted out— only to blink in shock at the words that left her mouth. Pink ran across her cheeks almost immediately, her (e/c) hues wide in embarrassment. What did I just say?....[Name] looked absolutely horrified at her actions.

"Maybe," He was still looking ahead of him, his red eyes focused on the numerous naive people who walked ahead of him. His black hair framing his chiselled features and pale skin. "Maybe even a lover."

     "I don't know about that."

She let out a small sigh quietly, but he could still hear her. The sound of her breathing, her heart beating. Somehow every time he heard it, something akin to warmth would erupt him his chest— beating through the iron walls he had made around his heart.

  "Why are you asking?"

     "...Nothing."

[Name] decided not to say anything else. And Muzan followed suit. He didn't bring up the fact that [Name] should love him, or more so once did. And he sure as hell didn't bring up the fact that he loved her as well.

The amnesiac girl didn't need to know how those simple side glances, and curt comments, and sly smiles, caused the demon's heart to race. She didn't need to know why either. At least not now.

She didn't need to know what their past held. To be reminded when he was there with her.

All she needed to know was that he was hers, lover or guide or friend. He was hers and just as she was once his-

"Wha—" A gasp left [Name]'s lips, her shoe getting caught on the uneven road and her upper body going forward. He was quick to catch her gently, as though she would break into a thousand pieces, an arm wrapped around her waist that pulled her into his chest. Speechless.

   "Be careful."

"I-I will.." She only nodded into his chest, blush spread across her cheeks once more. [Name] felt shivers running down her spine at the husky tone his voice took, the arm around her waist that sent her heart into a frenzy.

Muzan only gave a faint smirk, "Aren't I supposed to get a reward?"

    "What?"

He couldn't believe anyone could turn pinker, much to his amusement when he traced her lips with his thumb.

    "A kiss perhaps?.."

He let out a laugh when she shoved him away with a red face. Her (e/c) orbs seemed angry, confused— a mess of emotions and suddenly her locks of (h/c) were slightly ruffled.

"O-Only a lover can have that!"

He could only laugh again at the hidden irony at her words.
