"Remember all those monsters you believed in when we were little?" He whispers in my ear, causing the hair on the back of my neck to stand up. I nod slowly, swallowing the lump in my throat. I feel his lips and warm breath against my ear as he speaks. "Well, trust me when I tell you this, Soph." I close my eyes, my stomach tightening into a knot as his arms slip around my waist tighter, my throat feels like it's closed up, "They're real." He says in a hushed whisper. "And I'm one of them." My eyes widen, but he doesn't let me turn my head to look at him. He nuzzles my neck and I feel all my muscles tense up. "Are you afraid?"
