Chapter 22

Two days passed, and there was no sign of him. Apparently he wasn't dead, that everyone was sure of. The last person who saw Taiven was Breena. Apparently he had been fighting with a few mermen, doing rather well, when all of a sudden he had disappeared; a few moments before the sound had been heard to call the ones of Deep back. Taiven was gone but not dead. Not dead. I had to keep telling myself that. I was now the supreme leader of the Upper Kingdom, because Taiven isn't dead. If he dies, the crown goes to Breena and whoever she decides to marry. But right now it was me, and only me. I suddenly felt a wave of anxiety take over me.

I sat on the throne, and looked around me at the empty royal chamber. I was having trouble breathing because I was so stressed out and worried. I didn't know how to run a kingdom; I didn't want to run one either, but apparently that wasn't my choice. Who's choice was it anyway? Not yours, a rude voice in the back of my head snapped back. Despite everything that was going through my mind, I had accidently fallen asleep on my throne. I was awoken up when my stomach started hurting like crazy. So crazy that I'd ended up throwing up, and because I'm under water the vomit floated around me.

"Oh damn that's gross." I muttered, as I swamp away from my disgusting mess.

As soon as I started moving again, my stomach started hurting even more. I haven't eaten in over three days, and clearly now I was paying for it. Lucky for me, Danicio had been swimming by the throne chamber and had seen me.

"Majesty, are you alright?" He asked, quickly swimming my way as I felt my head start to hurt.

Out of reflex I nodded, but quickly after I shook my head. No, no I was not okay. "Danicio, I, I..." That was the last thing I said before everything went dark.

....................................................................................................(weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee).........

"It is as I suspected."  The castle merman doctor said to me, as I was laying down on a flat rock as he finished examining me.

I've been laying here for nearly three hours and my tail was going numb. But the doc had given me some sort of weird seaweed to make my stomach stop hurting.

"I'm dying aren't I?" I replied with a sad smile. That was just what I needed; Taiven missing, my brother too far up to help me out, a kingdom to take care of by myself, and my own funeral to plan.

"No, no, not at all Majesty." Doc hurried to answer, my smile quickly leaving. I rolled my eyes at the word Majesty; I've only been a queen for two days and everyone was already refusing to call me Tara.

When the doctor didn't speak for a minute, I snapped. "Well?" I said, sitting up on the rock. "What is it?"

He looked away, and stared at Breena and Taiven Senior that were swimming in place not too far from my rock. The doctor nodded at them, and a look for shock and horror closed the king's face. He quickly swam out of the chamber, leaving only Breena, Doc and me.
