Chapter 11

I've been avoiding Taiven for the past three days. I seemed to be the one who had to set some sort of line between the both of us. After all he was engaged and I was...I was—well, me. I was actually surprised that the king still let me live in the castle after all the crap I've been pulling the pass three days. For one thing, yesterday I actually addressed him as dude, and the day before I said what's up Mr. King? It's like I'm giving him an invitation to actually get my head chopped off; accidentally of course, no one what's their head chopped off on purpose.

Why does it matter so much to Taiven talk to me anyway? Am I just there for his own amusement? Oh my god! Was I some sort of mermaid prostitute—even thought I highly doubt that such a thing exists.

I'd been so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't notice Adara until I swam directly into her. "You stupid mermaid!" She snapped; honestly I couldn't care less but I put on an offended face anyway. "Watch where you are swimming!"

"Yes Lady Adara." I mumbled in a school kid voice, but she didn't seem to have heard me. Her mind seemed focused on something else, something distant. "You okay?" I asked her out of curiosity.

"Fine" She answered coldly and rather falsely. "Do not look at your future queen like that." And with that she swam off dramatically.

I sighed. Well, there goes my fun for the day. I was so bored. Danicio had decided that today's lesson could be cancelled because I'd been doing so well the pass three days, so now I was stuck with nothing. Breena and Cyri had disappeared off to God knows where, and Taiven, well I was keeping my distance from him. So, that's when I came up with a really sad pathetic game to play all on my own. Catch the tail. So I swam around and circles trying to catch my own tail; I felt like a complete idiot, but it kept me busy. It was actually pretty fun; no wonder why dogs do it so often.

A-Ha! I got you, you son of a bitch! I let out a victory laugh, as I let go of my tail. There. Now what? I looked around me, and of course a bunch of the castle staff had been watching me, well laughing at me was more like it. Glad to know that their day just brightened up; now, what can we do about mine?

After a while of thinking I finally came up with something I should have done awhile ago. Go see Ridge. He was out of prison, which was great, and I didn't have Taiven to stop me this time. Yup, sounded like a plan. Whiteout thinking about it a second more, I quickly left the castle, and begun swimming towards the surface. I now knew that there was a boat with money and clothes in it; if only I had known that the first time I wanted to go see my brother, it would have seriously saved me a lot of trouble.

I quickly arrived to the surface, but I was also rapidly faced with a problem. It was day time, and lots of people where fishing and swimming into the ocean, even thought it looked like it was going to rain. For sure that they were going to notice a butt naked girl coming out of the water and breaking into a rather luxurious boat. Alright, so how was I going to do this? I can always just swim back down, and come back later tonight. But what can I do to occupy myself until then? I'm not going to spend the rest of the day chasing my tail to have fun. No, I was going to see my brother now; no more procrastinating.
