*NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR IN 2017* Yea I know, it's been 5 years and this story is not edited yet. I'm so sorry for the horrible grammar so far! But hey, I was 14 and my first language is French; I did the best I could haha

Chapter 16

Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn it! I probably just broke like rule number one about being a mermaid! Was there any rules? Yes of course there were rules, and I just broke the most important one!

"Damn it!" I shouted once deep and safe underwater.

I started punching into the empty water, and moving my tail all over the place. The pain had gone away once I was able to get the hook out when the line was cut. I almost drown the dude that fell into the water, but I decided that killing one person had been enough for today. Besides, I seriously doubt the king will care who I kill, because at least they won't have anyone to tell that they saw a mermaid.         But Ridge wouldn't say anything, would he? Maybe, just maybe he'll think that he's gone nuts and will try to forget the whole thing! But I'd doubt it, because if there was one thing that my brother wasn't, it was crazy.

"Why does this always happen to me!?" I shouted, scarring a few sea turtles that were passing by.

I threw my hands onto my face, not giving a care if it hurt and let out a cry of frustration.

"What you watching?" Eleven year old Ridge asked seven years old me.

"Ariel" I answered still looking at the TV. "Mommy says that there are mermaids here too."

"I doubt it Tar" Ridge answered plopping himself on the couch beside me. "But if ever I do see one, you'll be the first person I'll tell."

"I know you will." I answered jumping on his lap and giving him a big kiss on the cheek. "Because you're the best brother in the whooooooooooole wide world."

I sighed; these sorts of flashbacks didn't really help with my decision making. "Well" I told myself out loud, swimming on spot and looking up. I could still see a small glow of the sun shinning bright upon the water. "I'm probably already in enough trouble as it is; guess they'll just have to chop my head off." I pathetically laughed at myself as I swam all the way back up to the surface and on to the supply boat. It was time for Ridge to know the truth.

Ridge

"You know, I's the one who fell intos the waters" Patch said as they navigated the boat back to the dock. "And you's the one who looks like hell."

Ridge was lining on the side of the boat, hugging his knees and resisting the urge to roll back and fourth. "Patch, do you believe in ghosts?" He asked is friend, who was in an incredibly bad mood since he lost his "fish".

It was clear as it can be to Ridge that was Patch had almost caught was defiantly not the fishy that he claimed. In fact it wasn't even a fish; well not a complete one anyway. He suddenly remembered out of nowhere the day of the hurricane the way that Tara had jumped into the stormy waters. "Don't worry, I'll be alright. I love you don't you ever forget that okay?" That had been the last thing that she had said to him, besides the oh shit! From earlier.
