The next morning Miles picked me up for school and I could tell he was on edge. He was waiting for the inevitable: Simpson to shut down his play. I tried to be supportive as I could but I knew he wasn't paying attention to me as he was racking his brain practising the points to argue.
We walked into the school, I discreetly dragged him to under a nearby staircase not wanting to leave him in such a skittish state.
"Hey, listen he's not gonna cancel it. He won't.""Ever the optimist." He sighed looking down at me.
"I'm not being optimistic. I'm mind reading." I quirked at him and it received a little smile."Really?" He asked.
"Yeah, and my sources are telling me Simpson's in his office right now rooting for this play as much as everyone else. He's only being professional about things, he doesn't really want to cancel it, it was his idea in the first place!" I reasoned."I guess. Maybe I just should have written a play that was less..." He sighed.
"Miles, you're the most talented person I know. I trust that what you've written is amazing, and if you changed it for anyone it wouldn't have been right." I pushed him and he nodded. I squeezed his hand in both mine.
There's a cough and we both jump apart.
Jonah and Grace are both looking between both of us.
"You two need a better hiding spot. Come on Hollingsworth its time."Miles POV:
We sat in the Principals office. Tris and Zoe sat by the side, at least we had student council on our side. But it didn't feel any more comforting.
