"My name is Serenity. I wish to tell you about something you may find hard to believe, but in order for you to keep an open mind I would like to start by saying I have over 10,000 people in my possession.

"A long time ago, I guess you could say aliens visited Earth. You see it all the time on the news, scientists coming up with new evidence pointing toward extraterrestrial life." She took a breath. "These beings were unable to leave upon entering Earths atmosphere, and they never aged. We can call the aliens Intelligence for lack of a better word.People looked up to the Intelligence, and they evolved from their Neanderthal ways in order to be more like the ones they treasured. They began drawing pictures and communicating with one another.

"So the Intelligence noticed they held a position of power over the mundanes. Slowly, they began teaching more and more to the unintelligent forces, turning them  into humans resembling people today.

"The Intelligence had spent about a few centuries carefully teaching the humans their position beneath their superior race. They began spreading out, creating new places, new peoples. That is why you have so many different cultural beliefs now. Behind every legend, every myth, there is some amount of truth.

"Well, the Intelligence got lazy. They became comfortable in their positions. The humans had developed more too... They knew the Intelligence's weaknesses, and killed them in their sleep. There were a few that lived, so they went into hiding. A war was declared.

"The Intelligence recouped and increased the numbers of their people- taking unsuspecting people. You see, normally in stories of things that go bump in the night you have to be scratched or bitten.

"That wasn't true for the Intelligence. The pure bloods' venom killed. So the only way for the numbers of coven members to go up, was for the males to impregnate human women. Their babies would become the majority of what you would call vampires today. The war is still going on... I wish to end it."

The message was broadcasted nationwide thanks to a tech genius Serenity had in her coven.

"If we can work out a peace treaty, I will release all the humans I am holding. They will be in perfect health and not remember anything that could cause them to be scared for the new arrangement between our co-mingling species. I wish to speak to the highest authority- as soon as possible. I have a secure line and will be expecting your call."

Serenity nodded to her tech genius and the broadcast was ended. "Keep someone on the lines, I want this to work out." One of her people nodded. She looked at Grant hesitantly, and smiled.

"You did so great!" He told her catching her in an embrace and nuzzling her neck.

"We don't know yet, they might believe that it's a joke. Or I'm a terrorist, or-" Grant cut her off by kissing her.

"At least you're trying." He told her when he pulled away. She opened her mouth to speak and he just shook his head. "A little less negativity, okay?"

"On the contrary, it would be better to plan for the worst." She told him. "For the first time in remembered history we are not hiding. I just made my coven, and any others like us, targets."

"Serenity! Serenity! You have a phone call."

Serenity patted her hair into place and went to answer it. "Hello."

"Hello, am I speaking to the person who made the nation-wide threat? This is the President."

"That would be me, however it was not a goal of mine to threaten. Simply, to put matters into perspective."

"Why don't you explain some things to me, and we may be able to compromise." The president stated.

"Alright, what else would you like to know?"

...

...

...

Serenity sat, staring at the ceiling. She just compromised - a rough treaty was just made between her and the humans.

"So it looks like things are beginning to work out, huh?" Grant teased.

Serenity looked at him and replied with a blank look. "They just might."

"Why don't we celebrate?" Grant asked and she smiled. He grabbed her up and began spinning her around the make-shift office. Serenity laughed, and he smiled down at her. "Why don't we start by-" He got cut off by a disapproving female voice.

"Serenity! Why would you dance with a human? I thought I taught you better."

Grant and Serenity both turned to see a red-haired woman with black eyes and she was very boney. Serenity stood frozen. So the woman continued.

"And you've painted a target upon our backs. What were you thinking?!"

Grant turned toward Serenity, puzzled. "Who is this woman? Why do you let her speak so rudely to you?"

"Because." She said through what seemed like numb lips. "That's my mother."

"Oh, don't say it so sadly dear. These are happy times so...You're not alone anymore. You're not the last pure-blood."
