I AM SO FREAKING SORRY THIS TOOK AGES AND IS UBER SHORT. GAH.

Chapter 27

“Can you grab that glass for me?” I pointed to the cup on the counter next to Tammy while stuffing my face with more chips.

Her nose scrunched and she handed me it. “Please close your mouth,” she grimaced turning away.

Rolling my eyes, I drank the water. “I’ll take that into consideration,” I told her as I ate more chips. Doritos were just so good.

“I don’t understand how Kale likes that,” she muttered grabbing some peanut butter and the pickle jar. This time my nose crinkled in disgust.

“Is your pregnancy telling you to eat that?”

“Actually no,” Tammy shook her head and dunked the first pickle in the jar, “I always eat this.” As soon as she put the pickle in her mouth, I turned away. That looks absolutely nasty.

“You sicko,” I stuck my tongue out at her before grabbing the chips bag and moving to my room.

“You’re mean,” she cried running past me.

“I can’t wait till you pop that sucker out in four months!” I called back. I faintly heard her chuckle.

Once I made myself comfortable on the bed, I took out my physics textbook. The finals were in a week and then I can graduate. Finally out of that school. Sighing, I took my pencil and tapped it against my leg trying to memorize the definitions of anion and anode. Why do I feel like they’re practically the same thing even though they’re like opposites?

I scratched my head in confusion and shut the textbook with the pencil in between the pages. Done for today.

“Done so soon?” Kale leaned against the doorway.

I lied back on the bed falling into the mountain of pillows before closing my eyes. “I have time,” my hand waved around nonchalantly.

“Do you want help?” he questioned and I heard his footsteps enter the room.

“Nah. I’ll figure it out,” I peeked out of one eye to see he was taking his shirt out of the dresser along with some pants. “Where are you going?”

Chuckling, he walked over to the bathroom door and said, “To shower,” before slamming the door shut. There was the sound of a handle turning and water splashing indicating he turned on the shower.

With nothing else to do, since studying was the last thing I wanted to do, I got up to go watch TV.

“You know what I just realized?” Tammy plopped herself on the cushion next me.

I gave her a wary look, afraid of what she might say.  “Depends,” I answered suspiciously.

She stared at me with amusement. “Oh it’s nothing bad, I don’t think,” she quickly thought it over before deciding it was both.

“Okay just tell me!” I shouted when she continued thinking for another two minutes.

“Geez calm down. You have never told Luka about Brett.”

My spine stiffened at her words, but I let out a sigh. “I don’t think I want him to know.”

I could feel her confused face staring at me. “Well why not?” her voice came out a little higher than intended meaning she was annoyed, or angry.

Groaning into my hands, I watched as she sat looking at me with wonder. “I just- I just don’t want Luka to think differently of me, you know? And it doesn’t even matter anymore. I’m over it, so there’s no point in doing anything.”

She shrugged and stood up using her thighs. “Well I have to go for a stupid ultrasound.”

“Now?” It seemed so early.

“Dude. You know nothing about babies do you?” Tammy chuckled and grabbed her coat from the rack. “Now I need to find Ryder. I know he’s somewhere.” Trying not to take offense from that comment, I told her good luck and continued on with my TV show.  “And why don’t you start studying!” I heard her shout before the front door closed.

I sighed. She’s right. I should go study, but I’m too lazy and it’s too hard.

The past months have been so different. Kale had finally finished healing, but I’ve been so busy with college applications and homework we never really got time together as much as I would have liked. As for Tammy and Ryder, well I don’t think they could be any more in love.

“I can help you,” I literally fell off the couch from surprise.

“Kale. God. Don’t’ scare me like that,” my hand clutched the shirt over my heart feeling the beating drop back down.

Shrugging, he strolled passed me and into our room- we had finally decided to just share a room, it was easier. “Are you coming?” he yelled.

My head fell and I began dragging my feet to the room. “Come on!” he urged me to go faster.

“I’ll do what I want,” I snapped finally arriving at the doorway. “Happy?” my eyes narrowed in on him lying face down on the bed.

“Mhm,” came his muffled response. I attempted to mimic him and plopped down next to him.

“So,” I stalled trying to think of something to say. “You showered fast.”

“Oh really?” he rolled over so he was on his side with his elbow propped up.

Rolling my eyes, I picked up the textbook from the nightstand and opened up the page. After one glance at the jumbled words, I slammed it shut and threw it onto the floor. Kale just watched me clearly amused at the way I was reacting to a textbook.

“I’m not doing that,” I told him.

“Why not?”

“It’s hard,” I whined closing my eyes. Stupid school. I can’t take it.

“How about we do something else?” Kale suggested, a little too suggestively. I peeked through my eyes lashes to find him staring at me intently.

I chuckled through my lips and nodded agreeing with him. “Let’s,” I breathed as he leaned closer. We can finally do this, without stopping.
