I held my breath as I walked into the palace living room. This room was soooo pretty. I loved the chandelier, and everything (minus the chandelier) was very modern and chic. I thought it was going to be filled with antiques. My attention was soon caught by a cough coming from a middle aged woman sitting on the couch in the middle of the room.

"You must be Ness!"

"Jess. It is an honour to meet you " I replied, ignoring her condesending tone.

" Yes," she says agreeing with me.

"Why did you call me down?"

"Oh just to talk," She sneered at me, trying to make it look like a smile. I hate fake people. Call it a pet peeve.

"This will be easier if we cut the crap. You apparently don't like me so if you could tell me why I'm here so I can leave that would be great."

"Well, you are my son's mate, and since he is royalty and you are not very...put together, I wish for you to learn how to behave."

"Well, I am not a barbarian. I can eat properly and I do know not to spit on others. Anyway, shouldn't a queen focus more on what she is doing rather than what others think of her?" I replied, a little offended. I don't think we are going to get along well.

"What do you know of royal life? You are a small pack girl, you apparently can't even look pulled together when your dress is provided for you! Your mother must be a complete idiot or you would have at least some grace! You can't do anything, you are not good enough for my son! It is my opinion that this is a mistake and in fact maybe I will send you home now and have you out of my life for good!" I was about to respond when a very quiet, dangerous voice echoed through the large hall.

"What did you say mother?" Luka's fists were clenched, his eyes black, you could see the rage coming off him. I ran over to him and grabbed his hand. What is with this guy and freaking out over nothing? What happens if I do something wrong. Im worried he might hurt me.

"Luka, it's fine. Calm down, I'm still here, I'm not leaving. She was just mad. It's fine, just, just, calm down. Please," I whispered. He looked like he was going to hurt his mom. I didn't want that. It would just end up being another story saying how terrible he is. He put his arms around my waist and inhaled my scent trying to calm down.

"Jess, I need to take a walk, come with me?" He whispered back. I nodded and we started to leave, but Luka turned around and said "Mother, get out of the castle for a while or I am afraid I might hurt you." We continued out the door and just as it closed I looked back to see her face red with fury and staring right at me.

I now know why everyone fears Luka so much. He is my mate, so i have to like him, but he scares me. I feel like he could go off at any second.

"Jess? Jess? Is everything alright?" I blush, I must have been too caught up in my daydreams to realize he was talking to me.

"Yes, it's great! Sorry, I was a bit zoned out..." He laughed and his laugh is soo sexy! Sudenly he stopped laughing and look dazed. He must be using the mind link.

"Luka, what's wrong?" His expression had just become sad, but it vanished soon and was replaced by a determined one. "Nothing. Just go back to the castle, I have some work to do. I'll be done by dinner." I could tell he was lying. Mabye it's a mate thing. I wanted to see what he was doing but I could also tell he would never show me. So I got sneaky.

"Sure. See you later." I walked off to a clearing far enough away so that he wouldn't smell my sent unless he was really trying to. When he started to walk I followed. If it had been any other time he would have smelled me, but he seemed distracted. He reached a cliff and I thought he would turn back, but instead he knocked and opened the door carved into the clif wall, which until then had been invisible. He went inside. I followed. He walked down a hall then another then another, until he reached a cell. I thought that he was going to let the woman inside, out but no. He didn't let her out. He did something terrible. Somthing that broke my heart into a million peices.
