Mandi
When I woke up AnaBella was the only person awake in the room. I looked
around to see Josh sleeping on the extra bed in the room, Dillon was asleep
next to me, and my mom wasn’t even in the room.
“Where’s my mom,” I asked AnaBella groggily.
“She went to work in the NICU since there was nobody who could work for
her,” AnaBella answered. “She said to tell you that there’s nothing to cry
over cause it’ll just stress you and the babies out and make this whole
situation worse.”
“Wow,” I said.
I was trying not to stress for the twins’ sake, but when you were in the type
of situation that I was in it was kind of hard not to freak out.
“You need to laugh more,” AnaBella said, “maybe it’ll be good for the
twins’ sake.”
“How do you laugh when you and the babies that you’re carrying inside you
are in danger because you have preeclampsia?”
“I don’t know,” she said sadly.
I was about to say something when Dillon started waking up.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty,” he said groggily.
“I’m in a hospital gown so don’t call me,” I said pretending to be mad at him.
“Sorry to disappoint you but now that I’m awake there’s actually something
that I have to go get,” he said getting up off the hospital bed. “I promise
you, though, that I’ll be back as soon as possible; I love you.”
He gave me a kiss on the forehead before he left.
“I love you too,” I muttered as Dillon walked out of the door.
“Do you have any idea what he has to go get,” AnaBella asked me curiously.
“Nope,” I answered. “Do you think he’s seeing somebody else?”
“What,” AnaBella looked taken aback.
“I’m serious,” I said. “Do you think that Dillon is seeing somebody else?”
“Okay, I’m convinced that you’ve totally lost it,” she laughed. “I know just
what you need, stay put.”
“Not exactly sure I was going to go anywhere,” I said as she walked out of
the room.
A few minutes later she walked back into the room carrying a Mt. Dew from
the cafeteria.
“Here ya go,” she said handing the Mt. Dew to me.
“I’m not sure I’m even supposed to have this,” I told her.
