“Dillon, what happened to Mandi,” I asked him once again. We were
all sitting in the waiting area at the hospital just waiting for someone to tell
us what was wrong with Mandi. Dillon was acting weird; it was as if he
were in shock or something similar to that.
“Dillon, are you okay,” Josh asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Dillon nodded.
“Does anyone care to explain to me why my daughter has a whole
bunch of alcohol in her system?” We all looked up to see Mandi’s mom
standing in the entrance to the waiting area.
“Mrs. Williams, Mandi shouldn’t have alcohol in her system,” I
said confusedly.
“Well, she does,” Mandi’s mom sighed. “Is anyone going to tell me
what’s going on?”
“We were at a party with alcohol,” Josh admitted. “Since we knew
that there was going to be alcohol we made Mandi tea, and that was all
she drank.”
“Someone must have switched Mandi’s cup when she set her’s down,”
I said.
“Were any of you drinking,” Mandi’s mom asked. She was obviously
not too pleased that we had taken her pregnant daughter to a party that
had alcohol at it.
“I had a couple sips, but not much because I don’t really like it,”
Dillon admitted.
“What about you two,” she asked me and Josh.
“I didn’t,” Josh answered.
“Neither did I,” I told her.
“AnaBella, do you want to come with me, please,” Mandi’s mom
said to me. I got up and followed her to Mandi’s hospital room. Mandi
did not look good; at all.
“What’s wrong with her,” I asked quietly.
“She has too much alcohol in her system,” Mandi’s mom
answered. “She hasn’t woken up since she, I guess, passed out at the
party. Plus, at this point, they don’t know for sure if the baby will
survive or not.”
“Mrs. Williams, what will happen if the baby doesn’t survive,”
I asked her.
“Mandi will most likely be crushed,” she answered. “Even though
the baby was an accident, she already loves it.”
“But will Mandi survive,” I asked worriedly.
“I’ve never actually heard of alcohol alone killing someone, but,
