Part Thirteen
Lia’s POV
My eyes felt heavy as I tried to open them. I struggled for a few minutes; try to open them, but eventually I gave up.
Where was I? What happened? Why does my head sting like a b*tch?
It hurts to think. But I need to understand what’s going on.
I remember… I had gone to Alton Towers with the boys… yes, I fell asleep and Zayn took me back to their hotel room… it was three o’clock in the afternoon… I had to go home… I thought Dylan wasn’t there, but he was… he saw pictures from Alton Towers… he was really mad… punches… kicks… I hit my head… cigarette burns.
My mind throbbed and tears stung my un-open eyes. I immediately stopped thinking about what happened. I didn’t want to think about it anymore. Was I dead? Is this what being dead felt like?
The annoying beeping noise pulled me from my thoughts.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
It was a constant, steady noise, but very annoying.
Maybe it was an alarm clock?
I tried to open my eyes again, after a minute of trying, and failing, my eyelids finally complied with my requests and my eyes fluttered open.
I immediately regretted the decision as harsh light intruded my vision. I blinked furiously, as my eyes took their time in readjusting to the sudden blinding light. I looked around the room.
White.
Everything was white. White walls. White ceiling. White curtains. White doors. White floor. White machines. Wait? Machines…
I double-took and looked at the machines again. Suddenly, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was in hospital.
A doctor walked in and smiled at me. “You’re awake,” he smiled.
“Hmm,” I muttered, not trusting my voice, as my throat felt like sand paper.
“Here,” the doctor noticed my discomfort and passed me a glass of water, which I gladly gulped down.
“H-How long have I been…?” I asked; my voice still a little raspy from not being used in a while.
“Asleep?” the doctor asked and I nodded, “Not long, only a day, some patients are out longer than others.”
“Oh…” I nodded and then winced, as the pain in my head increased.
“Are you in pain?” He asked me.
“No,” I lied, and shook my head, but winced again as the pain, once again, got worse.
