A Poem to Myself

Take a chance, take a leap, find some place new

Replace the inhibitions of a scared child

Accept a change, close your eyes, do what you do

There is nothing permanent about today

There is always a better way

Breathe in slow, lock your memories, forget the past

What is done is done and beyond change

Right the wrongs, forgive yourself, or you won't last

Living in the past is reserved for the dead

Remove the past from your head

Write a poem, pretend it's done, it's just a waste

What do these pathetic words accomplish

Drop the ink, throw your pen, and shake the bad taste

Because these are words no one will read

Maybe writing it is all you need
