Dawn

The sun pierces the dark sky at dawn

Like a smile shattering a lonely face

Every morning begins with a smile from a friend

Time turns clocks like an unstoppable force

But I try to turn around and stop it

The sunshine is not enough for my lonely expression

Instead I wake to the darkness

It attacks me through the window

Attempting to steal all of my wonderous dreams

I try to escape it but I've nowhere to go

The nightmare creeps in and I look the other way

Waiting for dawn to stop the cursed moments

The world tries to tear through my walls

Trying to run from it but it surrounds me

I hide under the covers for a hope

A hope that one day it will finally be gone

Perhaps once I depart the darkness will stay here

Waiting is a waste of hope

Dawn comes like a divine intervention

But I am too caged to see that its here

Like a smile from an amazing friend

But I try to look the other way and cry

Love true and kind but hope is too far gone

To turn and see its beautiful smile

The sun breaks through my curtains

Illuminating my small room I'm hiding in

I want to go towards the pure light

And so I go to her

A smile appears in my usually desolate eyes

The last thing I feel is her needed embrace
