Okay. Before we start this chapter, I want you to know that I read your comments and thought about the idea given by @waffles283. Sorry to disappoint, but I had something already planned so unfortunately that plot twist can't happen. Although, that was a good idea so therefore I dedicate this chapter to @waffles283. Hope you enjoy this chapter!

Chapter 28

You know how you always meet that someone in your life that you don't want to ever stay mad at? That one person that no matter how good you are at holding grudges, you can't stay completely mad at them? Well, I do. Because when I heard Connor yell for us, I was so worried. I ran back, as fast as my legs could carry me. I stopped abruptly, causing Tyson to nearly topple over me.

Connor was looking down, staring at something. I looked at what he was looking at, which was the bluest rock I'd ever seen. I stepped forward but was only blown back by a powerful wind. The feeling of ice nipped at my bare skin, prickling it like little knives. I hissed and squealed until it was over. There stood Connor, absorbing something from the rock.

"You found it," Annabeth breathed. She looked dumbfounded. "How did we miss that?" She laughed and ran her hand up and down her arm, trying to warm up. The ice explosion had an impact on us all, except for Connor it seemed, who was standing there taking the power.

"I-I don't know," Connor exhaled, staring up at me. I quickly looked away, still feeling hurt. I said I couldn't stay mad at him. I never said I couldn't still hurt.

"There goes the search for our ice stone," Clarrise said. I nodded in agreement. "What now?"

The answer seemed obvious. "We look for our next stone."

Everyone's eyes were on me. I shrugged. "We've got two stones down, and now we have six to go. I say we look for the earth stone now."

"Don't you think we should, I don't know, take a break? We've traveled across America, and now we're about to scatter all over it. That's a lot of traveling," Annabeth suggested.

I looked at her incredulously. "Are you kidding me? A break? Haven't you done this before? You were with Percy the whole time he did his quest. Now you want to stop to take a break from traveling? I thought you liked to do quests."

Annabeth looked taken aback. "Excuse me for my rudeness but I think I deserve an apology. That was totally uncalled for. Yes, I was with Percy when he did his quest. Yes, I do like traveling. Yes, I do like quests. But, I think you've forgotten, this isn't a real quest."

"I know that, but I think you've already forgotten. This is a world problem. Don't you guys remember anything? About how creatures from different 'worlds' are coming to ours? This isn't just about my mother anymore. This is about everything and everyone on this planet," I said. "It could be gone in a matter of months, or weeks. No breaks, we have to keep moving. We could be the cause of the destruction on this world if we don't continue ahead. Would you like to take a break now?"

Annabeth looked down and shook her head. I know that was a bit harsh and a bit dramatic, but how can they keep suggesting that we take a break? Like I had said, this isn't just about Artemis.

"Right. Right, okay. Where is the earth stone, again?" Annabeth finally said. Percy pulled out the list from his backpack.

"Uhh... in a resort at the Grand Canyon," he informed us.

"Wonderful."

"How are we going to get there?" Travis asked. Annabeth smiled, but Percy and Grover groaned. Tyson was smiling and looking like he was about to go on a roller coaster.

"What?" I asked, confused. Annabeth stuck we fingers in her mouth and whistled. After a few seconds there was a rumbling of a car engine.

"Percy, did you bring drachmas?" Annabeth asked. Percy searched in his bag and handed her some.

In a flash, there was a New York taxi in front of us. The driver's window rolled down.

"Well, if it isn't four familiar faces!" Three voices joined together in sync.

"Have"
"Enough"
"Drachmas?"

"Yea. We need to get to The Grand Canyon. A resort, actually," Annabeth explained.

"There's too many people!" the women exclaimed. "It'll cost you extra for the bus."

Annabeth sighed and rolled her eyes, took out a few more drachmas, and handed them over. The car started stretching and widening until it looked like a school bus.

"Get in."

We all climbed into the bus and sat down or grabbed a pole. I sat right next to Connor. I didn't care that I was mad at him. I went to grab for his hand but he jerked away. I frowned at him.

"I don't want to hurt you," he whispered. I knew what he meant. He didn't want to hurt me mentally nor physically. I still grabbed his hand, even though it was ice cold. I held on for the whole ride, which was, a long ride.

I saw The Fault in our Stars!! I already read the book but when I saw the movie it came to life! So. Flipping. Sad. I said I wouldn't cry but I cried so much that I swear the tears could fill a cup. :'( The movie was AMAZING though.
