COLE'S POV

"Emily..." I whispered knocking on her bedroom door.

Dalton's mom had let me in so I found my way upstairs. I was picking up Emily so we could go visit Alex but I doubt she would want to go back. Oh well, I guess I could give it a try.

"Who is it?" It wasn't Emily's voice. It was Joni's.

"It's Cole, can I come in?"

"Uh.. um... sure," that's when I opened the door and walked in to find Emily and Joni sitting on her bed.

"Hi," I said softly.

"Hi," they both said in unison.

"So... Emily, would you want to go to the hospital with me to visit Alex and see how she's doing? Joni if you want you can come too." Emily's eyes widened and Joni just sat there looking at me for a couple minutes until Emily broke the silence.

"Sure, I guess. Joni no if, ands, or buts your coming with me if you like it or not," Emily said and got up.

"Bu-" Joni stopped herself, "Ok," she groaned while grabbing her phone.

Emily smiled and said, "Good girl!"

"Ruff ruff!" Did Joni seriously just pretend to be a dog? I couldn't help but laugh a little.

Then we walked downstairs and headed towards my car.

"Wait! Hey Cole can I come with you? Pretty please? Please? Pleeaaasee!?"

"Dalton shut the flip up! I didn't say no-," he interrupted me with a squeal, "But I didn't say yes," I grinned while his smile turned into a frown.

"Dude I'm just kidding, now come on. Oh and one more thing. Dalton don't ever squeal again," I said while I playfully rolled my eyes.

He just stuck his tongue out at me and I did the same.

"Ahem. Sorry to bother your 'Colton' moment but lets go to the hospital now!" Joni said getting impatient.

"Yay!" Wow Dalton! I swear he is so childish.

"So now that you kids are done screaming would anyone want a juicy box?" Emily said while making 'juicy box' a little high pitched.

"Meee!!!" Dalton squealed again.

"Dude!" I snapped back.

"Sorry." He said inching back a bit. Emily threw a juice box at Dalton and I caught it before it could hit him. I could tell he was NOT ready to catch it.

"Dang it, Cole!" Emily whined. Dalton just gasped and put his hands where is heart is.

"I can feel the love you have for me," he said while making a pouty face. We all couldn't help but laugh. Then we actually got serious and headed to the car.

I was driving and Dalton was sitting in front with me, and Emily and Joni sitting in the back. I saw Emily whisper something to Joni and she just shrugged her shoulders. The whole way there was silent until Dalton spoke up.

"I'm hungry anyone else?" As if on cue Dalton's stomach growled. Emily just groaned and told him to suck it up. Dalton just made a pouty face once again.

"We can get something to eat after we visit Alex ok?" Emily said while Dalton's face lit up and he nodded.

We arrived at the hospital.

EMILY'S POV

I was so anxious right now. I'm finally gonna face Alex after what just happened.

"You ready?" Joni asked me. I nervously shook my head yes.

"Emily it's gonna be fine ok?" Cole said trying to calm me down. I just nodded.

Me and Joni sat down while Cole and Dalton did all the talking. Once they were all done they called us over and we headed to Alex's room. I tensed up every step we took. I think Joni noticed because she smiled a bit.

Here we are. Standing in front of Alex's door. I'm so anxious to see her. Some part of me just wants to run right in there, and another tells me to run away. Everyone was quiet until Dalton made the first move. He opened the door slowly and as soon as my eyes peeked up I regret even looking. As soon as I stepped in a felt guilt take over.

I felt a tear roll down my cheek. And there goes another. I felt all numb inside I started trembling. There she was. Laying down in a bed. Lets just say she's not in the best conditions.

I feel guiltier than guilty. Is that possible? This is all my fault. It should've been me, not Alex. I deserve this. I'm the one who got everyone stuck on this hell of a ride.

I decided that I should sit down before I tremble and fall on the floor. I mean, lets be honest. Who wants to fall on a hospital floor? Not really comfortable.

I think I sat there for a 10 minutes until I heard someone walk up to me.

"Emily, you ok?" I heard Cole ask silently.

"Mh, I guess," lies.

"You sure?" I nodded in response. I didn't dare to even look up. If I did I would get a glance of Alex when I didn't mean to. I heard him sigh and get up.

So not surprising I cried for a good 5 minutes. My vision was just a blur and my eyes I bet were puffy from crying.

Then when we all decided that we all should have a 5 minute turn to talk to Alex alone.

First was Dalton, then Cole.

As Joni got up to talk to her, my heart started beating like 80mph while I'm still in a 15mph school zone. Yeah I know you all think I'm insane, but it's the truth.

I'm next. That's all I could think about. I'm next and I don't know what to even say. I kept thinking and thinking. Until I got interrupted when Joni opened the door. She gave me a worried smile when I stood up. I smiled at her in return.

As I touched the doorknob and it sent shivers up my spine. I opened the door slowly with my head down. But then I realized that I would have to face her anyways. So I kept my head held high. I walked in and once again I started to tremble. I closed the door behind me silently and walked over to Alex's side.

"Hey Alex," I said in a soft voice. "I know you might be really mad at me right now but I just wanted to let you know if I could ever switch places with you, I would. This was never meant to happen to you I hope you know that. In fact this never meant to happen to anyone. It shouldn't have. I feel so guilty right it's not even funny." Obviously Emily! "You shouldn't be the one suffering. I should, I mean I'm the one who got you into this mess. I hope one day you will forgive me. One day you could meet Brandon, and see that he's a great guy. One day.... Stay strong and get better. Just try" I stayed there in Silence then quietly got up.

Before closing the door behind me, I looked back and said, "Stay strong."
I immediately got teary eyed but blinked them back.

As soon as Joni saw me she ran up to me and hugged me. But I immediately jerked back by the horrible scream that sent shivers up my spine and made me tremble. I literally fell to the floor. We heard the scream again and this time I knew exactly who it was.

Alex.

A/N: Didn't see that coming did you? This chapter was a little intense if I do say so myself. It's just like your riding your bike then all of a sudden.... BOOM!
