Chapter 19 – Dana Marries James

“You look stunning.” Verona assured her, despite her hesitation. “You look like you do. You don’t look sexy, but that’s okay, because you have this elegant charm about you. You’re classy. Professional men like Alex love that. It’s why he’s so crazy about you.”

“I looked kind of sexy last night.” Kelsey admitted. “His sisters, Dana and Isabella, came here and helped me get ready.”

“You’re already mingling with his family? Nice.” Verona commented. “Tell me what happened.”

“He’ll be here any second, Verona. You don’t know Alex. He’s really punctual.” That was one of the things that Kelsey loved about Alex. He was punctual and professional.

“That’s not a problem.” Verona said. “Tell me as much as you can right now. You can tell me the rest, later.”

“Well,” Kelsey said with a small smile on her face. “As soon as we walked inside of the club, he couldn’t keep his eyes off of me. He asked me to dance and we did. It was so nice. It was a lot different from all the other times we’ve met before.”

“He’s really into you, isn’t he?” Verona asked.

Kelsey shrugged. “I guess.”

“I’ve seen the way you act around each other. I mean, I know you and I’ve seen him look at you. I saw him yesterday. I can see that you both really like each other and you don’t even realize it yet.” She told Kelsey, astonishment evident in her voice.

“No, that’s crazy. I admit that I like him, but we’re not crazy about each other.” Kelsey said. “You’ve been watching too many movies.”

“Movies are based off of real life in some way or another.” Verona said. Kelsey hesitated, but before she could give a proper response, the doorbell rang. Verona smiled, knowing that the conversation had officially ended. “I’ll get the door.” She offered.

Kelsey just stood there, with Verona’s words ringing through her ears. Was it possible to fall for someone so quickly? In literature, yes. It was possible. But Kelsey had always kept her book world and her real world in two different parts of her mind. But fictional worlds, like the ones in movies and books, were based off of real events. Very few of them were truly purely imagination.

Footsteps entered her house. It wasn’t until she felt Alex’s presence in the room that she dared to look at him, and when she did, she was speechless. Alex stood in front of her looking more handsome than she’d ever seen him before. She would have compared him to a God, Zeus himself. He looked that ravishing. And she did want to ravish…She shook her head, snapping the thought out of her mind. She couldn’t be that overwhelmed by a guy in a tuxedo. It wasn’t normal. She’d seen plenty of people in tuxedos before.

But none of them had affected her the way she was affected by seeing Alex Diaz in one. He just…looked a hundred times better than any other man she’d ever dared to lay her eyes on.

He spoke first. “You look beautiful.” He told her, examining her the same way she had been looking at him. Suddenly, she felt self-conscious. She didn’t doubt Verona’s beautifying skills at all. She was, however, worried that something might be lacking in her.

“Thank you.” She said, a tinge of light pink appearing on her cheeks.

“Alright, children.” Verona appeared in the room. “Have fun. Be responsible. Kelsey, don’t do anything you think I wouldn’t do. And you,” She pointed towards Alex. “Make sure you have her back before midnight or I will make sure you regret ever being born.”
