lisa widened her eyes in shock and rushed over to the new friend she made today.  

"oh my god jennie? are you okay?" 

  "fuck off."  

these harsh and cold words came out as a mere whimper, yet they pierced through lisa's heart more than they were intended to.  

she looked on at jennie for another 5 seconds before leaving her alone. lisa thought what she needed was some space.

"i'll be in the classroom in case you need me, alright?" she spoke warmly and walked off, still occasionally turning around to check on the girl.

the lights in the classroom flickered to life as lisa stepped in. 

better than the dark, she thought as she plugged in her earphones and drowned herself in music, eyes scanning through her textbooks.  

lisa liked music on a rainy day. no, she loved it. it distracted her from the heavy pattering of raindrops against the rooftops, from the eerie howls of the strong wind blowing, from anything that sounded gloomy.  

not until now.  

not until it drowned out the soft whispers of help from jennie.
