All my life I had always known Pyriphlegethon as my creator, he always used to tell me fantastic stories, about creating me out of the fires of a dying phoenix. For years, I remained by his side in the underworld, but one day I came across a soul, a soul of a woman who had died. I found her one day, crying next to my creator's river. When she saw me, she looked into my eyes, and gasped. She then uttered two words I would never forget, "My daughter". My life changed forever that day.

The real story of my creation is far more sinister. Apparently, years ago, Pyriphlegethon had grown weary of Hades' incessant foul moods one spring while Persephone was not by his side, so he left the underworld, and walked around appearing as a mortal. He met a beautiful Egyptian woman, and after a date, was madly in love with her. However, Pontus had also been travelling around under the guise of a mortal, and decided to go after the same woman. Before Pyriphlegethon could consummate their love, Pontus forced himself upon the woman, impregnating her. When Pyriphlegethon found out, he was furious, but there was little at the time he could do, so he stormed off, also leaving the woman, alone and pregnant.

Pyriphlegethon brooded for months, as to how to get back at Pontus for what he did, so merely days before she was due to give birth, he kidnapped the woman, and put her in a room with no windows and left her there. When she went into labour, he waited until the child was born (not realising she was actually pregnant with twins), when the first child was born, which was me, he took the child, and threw the woman out into an alley. He transformed me into a fire nymph, and raised me as if I had always been one.

I found out that after Pyriphlegethon took me, my mother gave birth to another child, my sister. A kind Samaritan found her in the alley and got her to a hospital, which saved both her and the child. They grew up poor, my mother eventually whoring herself out to put food on the table for her and her daughter. When my sister was 14, she went to camp, and waited to be claimed, she waited for months, and no one claimed her. Pontus, hating the gods and camp, decided he would rather have his daughter dead than be at camp, so while she was home for the school year, he sent the Telekhines after her. As she lived by the ocean, they came for her, but despite being near the water, she was ill prepared. As she lay on the shore, inches from the water, her life force ebbing away, Poseidon happened to be nearby. Angry at Pontus, and feeling that sending monsters after Pontus' own offspring was not only distasteful but also direct interference, Poseidon decided to save my sister, and turned her into a water nymph.

Once I heard this story, I cursed Pyriphlegethon, and left the underworld; I travelled to camp and managed to find my sister. Now we both live at camp year round, helping the campers.
