Chapter 4

**Harry's POV**

I rubbed my eyes, and slipped my glasses on, everything slowly became focused and clear. I hopped in and out of the shower quickly and dressed in the familiar black trousers, grey cardigan, white shirt and red and gold tie. I looked at my timetable, double potions and then nothing, I was free to get the dance and myself  ready.

Slughorn had become even more clingy to me since the war, and now he had also been giving extra praise to Hermione's work too, in fact he was basically praising anyone who came through the door. But then again, he would let me get away with murder in his class so it wasn't so bad. I couldn't help but taking a quick glance at Hermione now and again, wondering what was swimming through her head. However I kept flicking my eyes to the watch bound around my wrist.

Forty minutes...Half an Hour... Ten minutes... Two minutes.... thirty seconds left to go...free!

I gathered my school book, quill and ink and shoved it quickly into my satchel. I sprinted past many who said hello or tried to form a conversation with me. I just waved goodbye and bound up quickly to the seventh floor. I saw the back of Hermione enter our common room. No! She was going to get to the bathroom first! I pushed faster, sliding past her.

'So sorry but the bathroom is mine for at least half and hour,' I said and smirked. Hermione folded her arms, but still couldn't help smiling back at me.

'Fine. But in half an hour I will storm through that bathroom door no matter what you are doing.' She spun on her heel and entered her room. I quickly slipped in the shower, letting the warm water not only clean me but clear my mind too. I felt as though I had a small red devil on one side and a white angel on the other, but they seemed to be echoing each other, both points leading to Hermione. As I got out the shower and changed quickly into a smart shirt and suit trousers, I then slipped my glasses up my nose and exited the room. I knocked on her door, leaving quickly to help set up. We had said the previous night that we'd meet there as we wouldn't want anyone to jump to conclusions before we had even decided ourselves. It would especially be cruel to Ron.

As I reached the rather far away Quidditch pitch, I created lights to lead the way to the entrance. I heard someone coming up behind me, as I turned I saw her bleach blonde hair billowing in the wind. Luna was changing the colour of the lights to reds and blues and greens and any other colour of the rainbow. I waved and she caught up rather quickly.

'Thought'd look pretty! Now they stand out more than a Nargles!' I really didn't know what to answer to that comment from Luna so I just chuckled and invited her to walk down with me. Luna and I began setting up rather promptly, soon helped by Seamus and Dean and a few other early birds.

**Hermione POV**

I stood in front of the mirror. I took my wand and spun my hair through my wand; It now lay perfectly. I then began applying my makeup, I used a special sticking spell to ensure no make up would come off or smudge throughout the evening. I slipped on the sheer white dress and appraised myself in the mirror. I decided it would have to do and made my way down into the common room.

As I entered it felt much like it had in my fourth year before the Yule Ball. I could here many whispers and comments and couldn't help but smile. As i felt myself begin to blush, I quickened the pace and walked down and out of the caste and finally began walking towards the Quidditch pitch. I heard someone running behind me. I turned around to see a jet of red hair - Ron.

'Hey ... Hermione....wait....' He panted.

'Okay.' I said plainly. Honestly I was rather annoyed, he had just automatically assumed I'd go with him, he never even asked. I could hear the music baring and could see the lights glittering up ahead. I checked the large watch bound around my wrist - it read eight o'clock, the time the party was to start.

'I'm sorry 'Mione. I know I didn't ask you I just kind of assumed.'

'I know you 'just kind of assumed' and that is why I am still annoyed. I'd still liked to be ask you know. Before you ask now, its a little late.' I spun on my heel and stormed off towards the party, leaving Ron standing alone.

The party was already largely populated. There were people dancing, talking, kissing. I found Harry by the punch bowl rather quickly. He smiled to greet me. I reached out to grab a drink and Harry's hand clasped around my wrist.

'I wouldn't Seamus spiked it with this potion thing he made, I think it may just be alcohol though and he didn't realize.' Harry chuckled, I grabbed a glass anyways.

It was nearing twelve o'clock which was the time I said I'd meet Harry or ditch him. It was only five minutes away. I started crossing towards the door, however Ron jumped in front of me and began asking me to dance and not taking no for an answer. I managed to get him to move by threatening him with a simple but painful hex. I looked down to my wrists again, only moments left. I stood in the spot Harry and I had arranged. One minute felt like hours, but in the distance I saw the outline of Harry Potter making his way down the hill at a rather quick pace. I smiled widely at him. He had come.
