Maxons POV:

"Do you Maxon Shreave promise to uphold the laws of your country and kingdom and maintain peace and harmony by showing loyalty to your people?" The Pope questions, "Do you swear by this oath as the new King of Illéa" He holds the sword firmly above me as I answer as I was told to:

"I, Maxon Shreave, Swear to uphold the laws of my country and kingdom and ensure harmony by showing loyalty to my people" I swear my oath strongly and confidently.

"By the power invested in me by the state, I anoint you, Maxon Shreave, The King Of Illéa" The crowd, who were watching on a screen from outside the church, burst into applause while I turn to see all the guests have stood up to show respect to the new king. Me. The new King of Illéa. I feel giddy but I hide it and keep a stern face. I take my place on the throne and wait for America.

Americas POV:

I stand before the big double doors and take deep breaths. My legs trembling.

"Miss Calm down" Lucy tries comforting me.

"Calling me Miss makes me more nervous" I snap.

"Sorry, America" she faintly smiles while touching up my makeup, "You look beautiful, Illéa is lucky to have such a pure queen" I flash her a nervous smile and she disappears leaving just me standing before the doors. I hear the music begin to play and the doors begin to open. I suck in a breath and push down my nerves and begin to walk. My eyes scan all those that meet mine until I find Maxons. He looks sternly at me and faintly nods, giving me encouragement. I hold my head up and look at no one but him.

It seems like an age of walking by the time I reach the steps where I kneel infront of the Pope. The ceremony begins immediately and he begins asking me the oath I have to swear:

"Do you America Singer promise to stay faithful to the king and your people and show only kindness as your act as a loyal queen"

"I, America Singer, promise to stay faithful to my king and people and show only kindness in my reign". My coronation is a lot shorter than Maxons as I'm not the King, I have less responsibilities. He holds the sword firmly above my head,

"By the power invested in me by the state, I anoint you, America Singer , The Queen of Illéa" I turn to face the audience and they all stand showing their respect. I try to fight back the smile trying to escape as I go to join Maxon on the throne. We sit at the front of the church as The Pope introduces us,

"People of Illéa, I present to you, your new King and Queen of Illéa" This is where those inside the church are now also aloud to applause, which is deafening but I still beam through it all. We walk out of the church together, hand in hand, The coronation is over.

I am the queen of Illéa.

Maxon is the King of Illéa.

The most powerful people in the kingdom.

A/N

Just wanted to acknowledge my boyfriend for helping me with this chapter as I was really stuck as to the oaths they would have to swear.

Hope you enjoyed reading.
