crushed and burned
the tired soul cries
embarrassed—face flushed
it cannot hid it’s shame
for once could it be easy?
never! the Earth screams
you can never be released
you can never be free
from the torment
lost in your eyes
tearing at your bones
you can never get a break
not once, not ever
from the humiliation
and pain
it feeds on the tired
the oh-so tired soul
