"He was the best looking guy in town. The girls adored him and mothers prayed he'd fall in love with one of their girls. He was sought by all, but still he wanted more. What is popularity when you're internally void? What is attention, when in the end everything will fade?
He was Mus'ab bin 'Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him), and for the sake of Allah he left the company of his peers and embraced the company of Allah. He no longer received the attention of the local crowd, but rather through his efforts the city of Medina embraced his call. The girls no longer wanted his attention, but Allah (subhanahu wa ta 'ala) blessed him with a wife who loved him for his eman, rather than his status.
Reminder: don't ever think you're lonely when you sacrifice for the sake of Allah. Allah (subhanahu wa ta 'ala) works in mysterious ways, you may think you're losing, but really you are the winner - you just need to wait."
