Betty sat with her back against Kevin's antique, wooden headboard with her legs laying upon his memory foam mattress. The letters firmly squeezed against her two thumbs and fore fingers. Jughead was sat opposite her ,slouching on Kevin's squeaky desk chair that couldn't quite spin the whole three hundred and sixty degrees.

The pair had created a formal system, he was to read through the earlier letters and herself would read through the later ones. They had come to the conclusion that if Kevin had both the letters from Jason and the ones he sent too Jason, he must have gotten into his house to steal them back. Or to gather memorabilia from his victim, a way to treasure what he had done, Betty shivered at the thought. Deep down, she still didn't believe that Kevin was capable of such immoral acts. When he came to mind, a sweet innocent teenager came to mind not the evil monster she pictured was responsible for Jason Blossoms murder.

As she advanced to the end of the pile, the final letter of the pile was written by Jason.

It provided a stronger motive than any they had ever protruded.

Betty sat up quick, coming to the realisation to what she was reading. Jughead, noticing this moved fast. Sitting beside her - sinking into the memory foam mattress along side her. The hole Betty created became a black hole, sucking Jughead down with her. Their warm sides embracing one another, providing them both comfort and stability.

"What is it, Betts? " Jughead asked, well aware it must be a big break in the case to force her to react in such a way.

"Jason ended his secret love affair with Kevin.. to be with my sister." Betty revealed.

"That gives him strong motive as well as a practical confession. I think its safe to say he's our prime suspect."

"I still cant believe all this. I mean, Jason and Kevin who would have thought. They are both from two different worlds."

" Well we are.. and if you ask me I think we are ....a good pair" Jughead was at a loss for words.

"Yeh.. we are an extremely good pair," Betty smiled, her eyes locking with his.

Together they stayed like that for a few moments, wistfully looking at one another- wanting one another. Then and there. Jughead rested his hand on Bettys bare thigh. The unexpected warmth almost made Betty jolt. Slowly, his hand began to move up her thigh, her stomach flipped and internal hyperventilation began to take place. Her heart was about to beat out of her chest. His next step was nuzzling her neck. Leaving sweet marks down her it's left side, forcing Betty to moan in pleasure. Betty knew she shouldn't want to do this here, but she did. But she cant. But he was here. Her mind was divided into two, bickering against one another.

There was nothing more she wanted in the world than him, now. But they couldn't... not now.

"Juggie...." She mumbled, his kisses working up and down the rival side of her neck.

But before she had a chance to stop him from moving any further, the front door downstairs loudly opened, the sound of multiple keys and chains in movement. Forcing Betty and Jughead to sit up right. Someone had came to Bettys rescue, forcing he to think straight.

They needed to get out of there.

"Take photos, quick!" Betty instructed pulling out her rose gold phone.

"What? No, we need to leave.." He exclaimed in a hushed tone, pulling Bettys arm.

"No we need evidence and if we take the he will know someone has been in here snooping." Betty began snapping pictures of her own pile.

"Okay, fine.. what about the phone? it might have messages between Jason and Kevin." Jughead asked continuing to work through his own pile.

"We have to leave it, we cant risk him finding out he's a suspect.." Rushed Betty, shoving the letters back into the slit. Similarly , did Jughead- as well as the burner phone. Betty returned the rug over the slit.

"Now what?" She asked. Jughead examined the room, it was his specialty to escape a room without being noticed.

"The window!"

"I cant climb down from the window, I'm not quite as agile as a wild Jughead , I will fall and break my neck!" Betty shouted a whisper a hint of sarcasm in her voice.

"Whoa, ever the optimist, Cooper. I will go first and help you down. Trust me, I can get us out of here without being caught..." He said headed for the window.

Betty took a deep breath and swallowed her pride and followed.

Jughead silently slides open the window. He sat himself upon the ledge. First sliding out his long, strong legs. He moved edge ways, hurdling himself to the conservatory roof, with little to no effort. The roof was strong, made of hardy plastic- it would almost definitely carry the weight of the pair of them. Jughead balanced himself and looked up towards her. Sending adrenaline to his veins, his heart.

"Come on its safe."

Betty began to second guess herself. She couldn't do this, she didn't have the useful trait of being a dare devil with a wild side like her boyfriend. Her throat swelled and her lips felt dry . She was at a loss for words.

On the rare occasion Jughead had seen her this fragile and vulnerable( like the time she feared Polly was dead) , Jughead knew what Betty needed. She needed support and to know some one was there. She needed to know she wasn't alone in this, jumping out of the window, this investigation, her life.

"Betty... trust me I will catch you, I promise" He said extending his arms awaiting her arrival.

Betty knew if it was going to happen, if she was going to escape, it needed to be now. Without thinking, or else her habit to dwell may prevent her from doing do.

She edged side ways, copying what Jughead had previously done.

Closed her eyes.

And leaped.

In that moment, she forgot about everything.

Jason Blossom, her sister , her family.

She focused on him. As did her.

Not so gracefully, she landed in his arms with a thud. It was unconventional, yet romantic at the same time.

Forgetting they were still on the roof of a cream conservatory, she engulfed him in her arms. In return he wrapped his arms around her back and cradled her head.

Slowly they slid off the roof , landing on the harsh ground sending jolts and pain through Bettys legs.

The front door opened again. From behind the gate , Betty and Jughead peered from the back garden. The culprit was neither a resident of the Keller house or any one they would suspect.

It was a south side serpent named Joaquin.

Betty gasped. They both realised what this meant. This murder case was revealing a lot of home truths, but neither suspected what was to come. How far this mystery would take them and what they would need to sacrifice in order to find the truth ....
