I drunk on the devil’s cup

to poison the demons inside.

Bullet nineteen

I suddenly felt a shaking hand brushing my left cheek.

"Kung ganito ang aabutin ko sa bawat pagtapak sa kabilang buhay, I will gladly die every damn time," agad niyang wika nang maiangat ko ang aking mukha mula sa kanya. He was smiling sheepishly and I was more than happy to see him alive, making unsuccessfull remarks on me.

"Jerk." Iyon lamang ang aking naging sagot.

"A hot jerk. And you are helluva boring kisser. I'm free tomorrow, I could teach you to kiss... and more."

I rolled my eyes heavenwards then tried to punch his face. Nasalo niya ang aking pulsuhan. I hold his hand using my free hand. I slid it down his pulse.

"Cole, bakit wala kang pulso?" I asked.

"Because real men have better ways to throb."

Margareth whistled, Canary laughed, Zeus let out a curse.

This story ended, with the magical sound on the background and we lived happily ever after.

Only that life was a real bitch.

That's what should have happened if fairy tale existed.

Hell, who taught me to believe that a kiss could give life? Him. I should have known better that his existence screamed poison. He was a prince who egged-on a deadly bite on his poisonous apple.

Cole had stayed stiff as I pressed my lips to his cold lips. He didn't wake up. I wanted him to wake up... or… I wanted me to wake up from this incubus.

It all seemed fuzzy. I remembered Margareth's grip on my arms as she pulled me away when men wearing white started lifting Cole out the tank. I knew it will leave a mark but I didn't feel much. I remembered the chaos that suddenly erupted at the entrance of the hospital. I remembered more men in white attending to us as we run in the alcohol fumed corridor. I stayed outside because I was not hurt.

Zeus started getting busy with his phone as soon as the doctors who had been asking questions at him left him. And I was left alone.

How the hospital management controlled the crowd, I had no idea. How people seemed to not see a Venice Fronda, I had no idea. Maybe Zeus did something, maybe surnames and positions didn't matter here.
