Chapter 20

Yesterday when Ashton drove me home he couldn't come in because my mom had gotten back from work early. Today Ashton was sitting on the doorstep. I was worried my mom would see him until I noticed her car wasn't in the driveway.

"Hey Ash" I said

"Hi" he said giving me a small kiss

"What are you doing here?" I asked him

"Kian told me your birthday was today and I wanted to give you this, happy birthday"

He pulled out a small golden box and gave it to me. When I opened it there was a heart shaped necklace and the date of when we started dating was carved inside the heart.

"Thank you, it's great" I said giving him a hug

"I'm glad you like it" he smiled

"Do you wanna go out somewhere? since it's your birthday?" he asked me

"No, my mom's going to come home soon." I replied

I really wanted to go somewhere with him but we had to make sure my mom wouldn't see us.

"Bye Em" he said as he walked towards his car

"Bye,thanks again"

I hid the box containing the necklace behind my nightstand so my mother won't find it. Ashton's gift was so nice, I loved it. My phone buzzed and I looked at the text I got it was from Dylan. I had given him my number a couple of days ago.

Dylan: Hey happy birthday Emma sorry I forgot to say it at school!

Emma: Haha it's fine

Dylan: So at what time should I come over tomorrow?

Emma: I don't know I'll text you after I get home tomorrow

Dylan: ok bye Em

Emma: bye

It felt weird to have him call me Em, I only liked when Ashton called me that. I wasn't gonna say anything though. I didn't want to seem rude.

My birthday was kind of boring. I got some clothes from my mother and Alison, my brother gave me a video game. I like video games but I'm pretty sure he just got it so he could use if too. Anyways my birthday would have been a lot more fun if I could've hung out with Ashton.

I texted Dylan to come as soon as I came home from school. I wanted to make sure my mother wasn't home so she wouldn't embarrass me. I got into more comfortable clothes, like sweatpants and plain t-shirt before Dylan came. I heard the doorbell ring and I hurried downstairs.

"Hi" I said when I opened the door

"Hey Em" Dylan said when he came in

I cringed when he called me Em.

"Wanna work on our project down here?" I asked him

"Sure" he said

While we were working on our project but mostly talking the door bell rang. I got up to open the door and I thought it was my mom.

"Hi?" I said

"Hey Em" Ashton said

"What are you doing here?" I asked

"I came to give your brother drumming lessons, Kian told me to come on Fridays because your mum usually comes late on Fridays" he said

"Oh ok um Kian's in his room upstairs" I said letting him in

It's not like me and Dylan were doing anything wrong but I know Ashton wouldn't be happy to see him here. He walked in with a smile but a scowl took over when he saw Dylan.

"What the hell is he doing here?" Ashton said loud enough for Dylan to hear

"Um h-hey Ashton" Dylan said nervously

I could tell he was a bit afraid of Ashton.
