"ARE YOU READY TO go Valkyrie?" Alexander asked.

"Mhmm," I hummed and pushed my chair in. Blue opened the door for us and when I stepped out of the shop I froze.

There were four men in suits waiting for us. I spun around and shoved Alexander back in before closing the door and leaning against it.

"Aisling," Blue muttered and went to pull me out of the way.

"Wait!" I cried and held my hands in front of me to stop him.

"Valkyrie," he frowned. "I can handle that."

"I know," I nodded. "But-"

"It's fine," he assured me. I took a deep breath and stepped out of the way. As soon as I did, Alexander pulled me into her arms and span around so that her back was towards the door.

I heard a bang and felt the heat of an explosion, but Alexander didn't even flinch.

"A-Alexander," I stammered as she kind of leaned against me.

"Just give me a minute," she mumbled and instead fell to the floor. I tried to catch her, but as I turned around something hit me in the stomach.

I was sent flying backwards and as I crashed against the wall at the back of the restaurant, a door opened and a man in a chef's outfit stepped out.

"Hide," I snapped at him and he ran back in.

"We're just here for you," one of the Aisling told me as he weaved through the tables towards me. "No one has to die."

"Except me, right?" I scoffed as I dragged myself to my feet.

"It's a small price to pay," he shrugged.

"Are there any women in the Aisling?" I asked. He looked confused for a moment, then in his moment of weakness I held my hand up at him and a gust of wind sent him flying back out of the store.

I vaulted over one of the tables like I was some kind of Olympian and ran to the door. I felt something inside of me snap, kind of like an invisible string and without meaning to I stomped on the concrete just outside of the store.

There was a little rumble and then directly underneath where the Aisling were standing, the ground literally opened up and swallowed them.

I gasped and stumbled back, tripped over the doorway and fell on my ass. The ground closed up again and the only way I could believe it had happened was because I saw it. There wasn't a single crack on the ground or anything.

"Valkyrie," Blue groaned and when I looked back he was pushed against one of the walls.

"I'm okay," I told him quickly. I smiled a little because not only had I just managed to change my element, but I had just handled four of the Aisling on my own. I laughed a little. "They're not very tough."

"We have to go," he said and I caught him trying to get up. I hurried over to him and helped, then he looked around for Alexander. I noticed him tense a little bit.

"Is she okay?" I asked.

"I don't know," he muttered and walked over to her. He rolled her onto her side and pulled her shirt up a little bit. I saw that she had a cut running along her hip, but it was all gross and purple. He went to touch it, but it sizzled and he shot his arm back. "Vervain."

"Vervain?" I repeated.

"It's like poison to Vampires," he told me. He leaned down and I felt my eyes widen as he pressed his mouth to the wound. I yanked him back and he looked at me angrily. "If I don't suck it out she's going to die."
