Calum:

“You say it’s no concern, and everything’s alright, sometimes we all get burnt, and then we try to hide, And I know, and I know and I know and I know we’re wrong, we should have let things slide”

Fade: to gradually grow faint and disappear. There was no other way to describe yours and Calum’s relationship other than fading which was breaking not only your heart but his as well.

Yours and Cal’s relationship was the one that everyone used to envy, the relationship that was just so cute and perfect that everyone was jealous. You both had every member of the band convinced that you were soul mates, everyone was convinced as well as your parents that one day you would be ‘Mrs (Y/N) Hood’ and for a while you were too. Recently, yours and Calum’s relationship was beginning to take a turn for the worst, not being able to handle the distance anymore and the hate it was just getting too much. You both found yourself keeping in contact still while Cal was away but even that began to turn into twice maybe three times a week instead of everyday and when you were together you both tried your hardest to be happy but you  could both tell it just wasn’t working anymore. It didn’t matter how much you both tried to pretend everything was okay, you both knew it wasn’t and neither of you were ready to let go of each other just yet- staying together even if you both knew things weren’t okay.

Tonight you were stood side stage at one of his acoustic shows in America, him having no idea you were there considering Luke had  helped you plan it over a month ago as a surprise for him, but as you stood there watching your boyfriend on stage- he wasn’t being himself. You danced around the side of the stage a little bit while unpredictable was playing because it had always been one of your favourite songs; even if you and your boyfriend were having troubles you decided that you loved their music too much to let it get in the way. As the lyrics to unpredictable stopped playing, you watched as the boys put their instruments down and because it was too early for the set to be over you knew that it was a water break, not wanting Cal to see you, you quickly ducked behind the stage door and waited patiently to hear the boys voices boom through the musical hall before you returned to your position side of the stage.

Chuckling at the boys as Ashton began story time, listening telling a story about how apparently Calum had his pants pulled down in the middle of McDonalds which made your little chuckles turn into a loud laugh picturing the embarrassed face of your boyfriend and the grins that would’ve been plastered over the rest of the boys faces. It was when the chords of an unfamiliar song began to play that your laughter died down, suddenly becoming interested as Calum spoke, “this song was written by me a few weeks ago, it’s the first time we will be playing it and I’d like to dedicate it to someone whose very special to me but she’s not here at the moment, she’s back at home and I just really miss her, I miss us” he spoke into the microphone, his voice dropping at the end which told you he was upset which automatically made you upset, this song was written for you.

You felt the tears build up in your eyes as Calum began the opening to the song, his voice sounding weak but still amazing at the same time, he sounded as if he would snap at any moment. You found yourself swaying slightly as the song continued to play and the boys begun to sing, the tears now obviously present In your eyes. Listening to the lyrics carefully, you were shocked at how accurate the lyrics were almost describing yours and Calum’s relationship perfectly and how it was beginning to break. It was when you heard one line that you felt yourself break, “You say it’s no concern, and everything’s alright, sometimes we all get burnt, and then we try to hide, And I know, and I know and I know and I know we’re wrong, we should have let things slide” Calum’s cute and raspy voice flowed through the music hall, your eyes meeting with Luke’s as you took off backstage trying to find an exit because you couldn’t take it anymore.

Running away from the venue, you found yourself wondering down an unfamiliar street with tears running down your cheeks, people giving you strange looks but you honestly couldn’t care. You ended up in the back of a small coffee shop, it was almost empty and you couldn’t help but feel relieved as you sat in the tranquilness of the small café sipping on your coffee with some well needed alone time with you and your thoughts. You weren’t aware of how much time you spent sitting in the small coffee shop and you couldn’t remember how many different customers had walked in and out of the there but you knew that you had been sitting there for a very long time and you knew exactly what you now were going to do with Calum.

It crossed your mind a few times just to get back on a plane to London considering that Calum had no idea you were there and hopefully when he came back things would be okay but you couldn’t find it in yourself to take the easy way out. After what must’ve been your third cup of coffee you decided that it was best for you and Cal to sort it out while you were here, whether you decide it was going to be better to end the relationship or whether you could actually fix your relationship you didn’t know. Pulling out your iphone you ignored all the texts and missed calls from Luke Mikey and ash asking where you were, obviously wondering where the hell you took off to and instead you scrolled down your contact list until you came across the number you were looking for, Calum’s.

With your head still facing down and with your phone held up to your ear you heard the phone ring into your ear, hearing Calum’s ringtone at the same time which made you confused until you looked up to find your boyfriend standing right in front of you his phone up to his ear, how the hell did he find you? As soon as your eyes met Calum’s expression instantly turned happy, a smile breaking out onto his face and thanks to his happy expression yours changed from upset to happy as well although you were sure that your eyes were saying something else.

“(Y/N) what are you doing here?” he said as he pulled you into a tight hug, one you had been longing to feel for so long which instantly made you feel safe but this time it all felt different, wrong. Pulling away from the hug a little too quickly you watched as he pulled the chair out in front of you and sat down, “surprise!” you said weakly, watching the smile drop from his face almost instantly kind of mirroring the same expression he was wearing on stage earlier, “Luke helped me plan this surprise for you a few months ago so originally I was coming to surprise you, and I still am but I think we need to sort some things out” you continued, not being able to look him in the eye- too nervous and scared for what was about to happen. “(Y/N) I know you were at the show, Luke told me after so I know you heard the song which is why I’m guessing your eyes are puffy” he sighed, reaching out to place his hand on yours across the table and rubbing his thumb lightly across your hand, “baby, I know that there’s so many things wrong right now but I  think we can get past this, I know we can work this out” he continued, his little speech ending with a small smile which instantly made your nerves disappear, things already felt so much better. You smiled at Cal’s sweet words, nodding your head in agreement, “I want for this to work so much, I miss us so much, I miss how we were before you left for America, the distance is killing us Cal” you replied, feeling his hand release from yours as he got up from his seat and pulled you up from yours before sitting back down in your spot and pulling you on to his lap, tilting up your chin so you were looking directly into his eyes. “I know it is baby, I’ve known for a while and I know you have to but I refuse to let distance ruin what we’ve got because boo, I am not letting you go, not know not ever” he whispered against your lips, before leaning forward and pressing his lips against yours in a sweet and loving kiss, it was in that moment you knew that your relationship with Calum was no longer fading, it was getting brighter.

Calum pulled away from the kiss wearing a big goofy smile which you were sure mirrored yours, “how much longer are you here for” he said as he linked his hand with yours as you both stood up and left the coffee shop. “my plane to London is in three days” you pouted, knowing that everything was so good for now, knowing that everything was finally getting better you had to push that thought to the back of your head. “wrong” Calum said, stopping you in the middle of the street and chuckling at the confused look on your face, “you’re not going anywhere for a while baby because you’re coming on tour with me” he continued before pulling you into another kiss, this one slightly more passionate. “I love you, I’ve only just gotten you back and there’s no way I’m letting you go anytime soon” he smiled, pecking your forehead, “ I love you too” you grinned, wrapping his arm around his waist and walking back to what you assumed was the boys hotel and you could not be happier. Everything was finally okay, you had your Cal back and you were the happiest girl ever.
