"O's coworkers who spotted me last week haven't dropped it yet; apparently they want to meet me, one of them invited us over for dinner. Now I've put her in a tight spot, because I can't simply be going over to other people's houses' for dinner. I wear sweaters and gloves year round; strangers comment on it, there would be no way around it. Sure, I could say that I have a prosthetic arm, but it is no normal prosthesis. That's too dangerous, and I'd rather have the title of introverted and possibly questionable partner than I would risk exposing us. I'll take the flak, I will take the glares whenever I walk by and her coworkers think I'm some asshole who wants to hide O away from the world.

Sometimes I believe I am the asshole who took her away from the world, and then I'm reassured that it's not as black and white as that. In all the time I have known Ophelia, I know that she's been happiest with me. Call me greedy or selfish, but I live for that."
