"Come on Christian," yelled his cohort and superior impatiently. "You have to do it, like it or not, now before it's too late!"

Christian looked at Adriano imploringly, trying desperately to find a loophole; some way out of doing what he was being forced to.

"I-- I really don't think I can do it; he doesn't deserve it and I cannot understand how my action would help the human race- -they would be better off without him!"

Adriano looked at him with distaste, as if he were the most evil thing on Earth, which upon thinking this make Christian giggle at the irony. "Okay, okay! You win. I will do it."

Christian leapt across the road, flew in through the open window of the trucker's cab and shook him to rouse him from his drunken slumber. At the same time, Christian used his powers to pull the truck to a halt. He closed his eyes and strained to picture the truck stopping- using all of his physical and emotional energies into safeguarding both the driver and the innocent victims he may have killed. He gasped a deep, reedy breath, as the truck slowed to a halt.

It had worked -- his Guardian powers had managed to avert a major collision that would have happened had he not been there to do his job. He sighed a breath of relief; it was getting harder and harder to save people who he knew would never learn by their mistakes. He sometimes wondered why he bothered, but it was his job and so continue he must.

"Another idiotic human saved to continue wreaking havoc on the world," he sighed grumpily to Adriano. "This job is not all it's cut out to be-- why do I feel as if I take three steps forward and two steps back?"

Adriano smirked at him. "Let's set off for home now kid, it's early days and you have much to learn about how we operate. All will become clear soon enough! "

"Oh joy!" Christian muttered to himself, " I cannot wait to see what other exciting treats you have in store for me!"

He walked over to Adriano, who grasped hold of his suit lapel. "Ready?" he asked.

Christian shrugged his shoulders, bracing himself for a journey of pain, dizziness, nausea and all the other nasty feelings any one body could feel at once. With a click of his fingers, Adriano started the transportation process that would take them both back to the place he now called home.
