“Starting tomorrow, you will begin your job.” The man on the tablet told.
“I thought you said I start after I graduate? Are you taking back your words?!” Sharlene angrily told.
“This is training for you! I’ve already notified everyone to make sure you don’t work more than four hours per day.” He told.
“And if they make me for more than that? You’ll fire them?” She figured, irritated.
“Sharlene, you know how I work and you know what happens when my orders are violated.” He told her.

Sharlene kept quiet, feeling irritated deep down.

“By the way, you will be meeting someone familiar very soon.” He told her. “Don’t let your guard down once you do. Do you understand?!” he warned her.
“Is it her?” She guessed.

The man kept quiet.

“Thought so.” She told, feeling irritated.

Sharlene got out of the black Royal Royce in front of her house and stood there as the car left. She then got a text message.

“This will you be your body guard starting tomorrow.” The text read with a picture of someone she knew.

Sharlene let out a confused look, scratching her head as she walked back to her house. She took a deep breath before walking in her house.

“I think I’m getting a hang of this!” Jairus told as he was getting dinner ready.
“Good job! The food’s not burnt!” Sharlene complimented as she took a seat.
“Thanks!” he sat down across from her.

Sharlene kept quiet as she ate her food.

“Can I ask you something?” Jairus broke the silence.
“You just did.” Sharlene told.
“Sharlene naman e!” Jairus whined.

Sharlene just laughed.

“What’s up?” She put food in her mouth.
“Who was that earlier?” he returned.

Sharlene stopped eating from his question.

“It’s the company I’ll be working for starting tomorrow.” She simply told.
“Baka dangerous yan ha?!” Jairus pointed out.
“Legit sila noh.” Sharlene defended with a chuckle. “Kaw? Have you found a job yet?” she started.
“Wala panga eh!” He put his food in his mouth roughly.
“Diba may resort kayo? Why not work there?” she told.
“Oh ya!!!” He figured. “I’ll call dad as soon as I finish my food!” He quickly ate his food.

Jairus called his father as soon as he finished, but couldn’t get a hold of them.

“Ano daw?” Sharlene questioned.
“Cannot be reached.” He replied.
“Baka busy or low bat?” she figured.
“Maybe. I’ll try again in the morning.” He told.

The following day, Sharlene sat beside her best friend, Alexa.

“Gumaganda ata Bestie ko ah! I’ve noticed lately. Blooming na blooming ka.” Alexa started. “Who is he?” she teased.
“Sira! Good mood lang.” Sharlene replied.
“Weeehh!!! Who’s the guy nga?!” she teased her again.
“No one!” she calmly replied.
“Fine. Anyway, I hear we have a new classmate.” Alexa told.

Sharlene kept quiet as she had an idea to whom it might be.

“That’s nice.” She let out a fake smile. “Musta naman kayo ni Nash? Kayo na?” she quickly changed the subject.
“Me and Nash? Magka on?! Ano ka? Hilo? ‘Di naman nanliligaw yon no!” Alexa placed her chin on her palm as if she was angry.
“Weeh!! Pero gusto mo!! It’s so noticeable! Why not confess instead?” Sharlene told.
“I can’t. I think he likes someone else.” Lexie told with a sad tone.
“Uh-huh. Pa drama naman to.”
“Anyway! I- “
“Did you get her name?” Sharlene cut her off before Alexa could change the subject.
“Lexie daw.” Alexa told, giving up from her persistent best friend.
“Isn’t that you?!” Sharlene figured.
“My name is Alexa, not Lexie.” Alexa pointed out.
“Maybe it’s a nickname for you? I call you Lexa, so Lexie could be his nickname for you. The names are close anyway.” Sharlene told.
“True, but if that’s true, wouldn’t he have showed it to me?” Alexa pouted.
“Baka shy!” Sharlene figured.
“But –“
“Ah-hah! Aminin mo na! You like him! Affected kase?” She caught her.
“Guilty.” Alexa admitted in a soft tone, putting her head down.
“Ayieee!” Sharlene teased. “Don’t worry Lexa, we still have the rest of the year for him to notice you!” Sharlene cheered her up.
“True.” Alexa agreed.
