Into The Fire

Darkness is the only thing I could see. Heat was the only thing I could feel. Screaming is the only thing I could hear. It surrounded me, consumed me, terrified me but for some reason I still felt safe. I caught a glimpse of red before it started to enclose me and crawl up my skin making me realize that it was fire. I heard sizzling and I could feel the fire burning my skin away. Above the screaming and sounds of my own flesh burning along with everyone else's a voice boomed one I recognized instantly. "STOP, LET THEM GO NOW"! While she screamed everything around me shook but nothing else happened. I tried to move, to get to her but I was frozen in place. I heard another voice but I didn't recognize this one. "No we will not stop. They will all burn to nothing while you watch. It will only stop once you have watched the person you love most be consumed by the fire and burned as punishment for your crimes". She was beyond mad I could tell by the way everything began to shake and crack but also because I knew her. "You want to punish me fine but I won't tell you again you let them go and you do it NOW do you understand me" she yelled in a fit of rage making me want to get far far away but I was still frozen.

I gasped my eyes opening but I wasn't in the fire anymore I was back in Niks bed with him and Nina. She was still out cold but Nik was very slowly starting to wake up. I got out of the bed walking into the hallway and through the house to find Elijah, Bekah, Finn, Alex, Ben, Lucy, Bridget,Will, and Logan all in the same state as Nik but when I found Rick he was in a state like Nina. I picked him up carrying him to Niks room where I placed him next to Nina. Nik had woken up and so had everyone else meaning they all came rushing to check on the girl they thought of as their queen. Her skin had become flushed and clamy in the short amount of time. Her jaw and fist clenched her teeth gritted and even though she was out you could literally see the anger radiating off of her. She seemed so weak yet so strong and Rick seemed to be copying her causing me to realize that he was being forced to experience what she was without actually being there.

About an hour of sitting, pacing, worrying, and waiting Nina woke up with a gasp. Rick soon followed pulling her in for a hug knowing what she went through while the rest of us didn't. He let go and her eyes searched the room before falling on Nik, Elijah, Beks, Finn, Alex, Bridget, Will, Lucy, Ben, and Logan. She relaxed but then she got worried again and her eyes scanned the people before landing on me. She took a deep breath and a wait appeared to lift off of her. She stood up slowly flinching slightly as if in pain and pulled Nik to her. She held him as tightly as she could and he did the same but being extremely gentle while doing so obviously noticing her flinch as well. I felt sadness and jealousy course through my veins but I didn't do anything about it knowing that I had no reason to be.

***Ninas P.O.V***
I could see the fire, hear the screams but I couldn't do anything but plead for it to stop which made me angry. "STOP, LET THEM GO NOW"! The ground shook suprising me and I heard them give their answer. "No we will not stop. They will all burn to nothing while you watch. It will only stop once you have watched the person you love most be consumed by the fire and burned as punishment for your crimes". This made my anger turn to rage and I lost control of my words and actions and I started to yell not even meaning to. "You want to punish me fine but I won't tell you again you let them go and you do it NOW do you understand me". They did as told and sent everyone away.

I was thrown into the fire as my punishment. They made me feel pain that was indescribable but I wasn't going to let them hurt the people I cared for. "Just give in let them take your place, feel your pain we all know that's what you want". I was outraged by this but I knew that they were telling the truth about one thing I did want someone to know what I felt but that doesn't mean I'd ever even think about letting any of them take my place. "No I won't let that happen even if it's the last thing I do". They tried many more times to get me to give in, increasing the pain, burning of my flesh before it slowly went away. Just before my eyes opened I heard them say "you passed and now you know who your King is. Who was the one person you wanted to save from the pain more than the others Nina? We'll continue the dreams to help you figure it out because you don't want to think about the fact that even though you care for all of them you'd still save him first". I was confused by this but before I had time to react or ask questions I was waking up.

My eyes opened and I gasped. Seconds later and Rick woke up I knew that he went through everything I did but I couldn't help him. He hugged me foe a little while before letting go. My eyes scanned the room landing on everyone and I relaxed before realizing Kol wasn't there my eyes searched the room finally falling on him and I took a deep breath the worry I'd been holding onto disappearing and I once again relaxed. I really wanted my bestfriend in that moment knowing that he'd understand what happened and I got up flinching when I felt pain shoot through my nerves from the intense burning and pain I had felt just moments before. I wrapped my arms around him holding onto him tightly scared that if I let go he would slip away. He wrapped his arms around me holding on just as tightly while still being gentle obviously noticing my flinch scared because me being out like that made him think of losing me the one person who understood him completely and would never let him down. I let a silent tear fall and wispered in his ear while he did the same. "I'm right her Nik and I'm not going anywhere". Everyone else was forgotten and it was just us for that moment. We eventually broke apart and Nik picked me up before carrying me to my room and sitting me on my bed where Kol, Lijah, Rick, Finn, and Bekah joined us. I sat in Niks lap with Finn, Bekah, and Rick at our feet and Kol and Lijah at our sides. I reached my hand out to Kol and he held onto it interlocking our fingers and causing me to smile. He scooted closer and I turned in Niks lap sitting my feet in his. He placed his free hand on my leg and I stretched mine behind my head letting Lijah hold onto it. Finn and Rick both reached out holding my leg with Kol and Bekah set her hand on my shoulder while Nik just started into space playing with my hair. I watched him for a second before pulling away from everyone and sitting up I climbed out of the bed but Nik was still zoned out. I motioned for the others to do the same before grabbing a cup and filling it with water. I poured it over his head and he finally snapped out of it. I offered him my hand before pulling him to his feet and pointing to the window. He saw the full moon and realized what I wanted from him, he nodded and I called for the others wolves to meet us by the lake before we turned. We all walked outside and I did a spell letting them stay in control like me and Nik could. I pulled off my t-shirt and shorts while Nik did the same and tossed them to Lijah. I started to transform and the others soon followed.

I brushed up against Kol and he reached down petting my head while the others just sat by the lake watching the water. I walked away knowing he'd follow and sat down by Nik. Kol took the spot beside me running his fingers threw my fur. We stayed that way for a while before I disappeared into the woods by myself. I knew the others would soon join me but I just wanted sometime to myself. I walked around thinking of what the spirits had told me about my king. The wolves were soon transforming back to their human selves but I wasn't ready to go back yet so I instead went farther into the woods coming up with a plan to go back in a few days.
