Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!

There are very few things in his life that Luciano is thankful for. There are even fewer people. However he thanked the gods that he met Allen, or rather, Allen found him.

When he was seven years old, his family had moved from Italy to America. He hated them for taking him away from the place he called home.

He hated what happened so much that within his first month of moving there, he tried to run away back to Italy. He planned to sneak onto a ship that would take him to Europe.

He left in the night, however, he became easily lost in the streets of New York. He found that he didn't know where to go to catch the ship and he didn't know how to get back to the apartment his family had moved into.

Out of seemingly nowhere, a huge dog pounced onto Luciano, knocking him over due to his small stature. He was trying to fight it off, but he didn't have anything to hit it with and he wasn't strong enough to fend it off with his bare hands.

Just as he thought he was about to be killed by this beast, someone hit it hard from behind and it ran off whimpering.

Luciano looked up to see a boy with an oversized, brown leather jacket holding a baseball bat with nails sticking out of it. His hair and eyes were dark brown in the night, his skin was tan, and he was missing a tooth.

The boy offered Luciano his hand. Luciano took it and tried to stand however, in his tousle with the dog, he had twisted his ankle. The boy noticing this, kneeled down and told Luciano to climb on top of him.
He did so, careful not to hold on too tight around the boy's neck.

"The names Allen. Where were you trying to go this late at night by yourself?"

Luciano told him the story of how he recently moved to America but was trying to run away back to Italy. He also informed him that he had no idea how to get back to his apartment.

"It's okay kid, I'll take you to my apartment. Both of my dads are still awake. They let me walk around the city as long as I bring this baby with me," he said motioning to his baseball bat.

Luciano thanked him, something he rarely ever did. He felt it was appropriate for the situation since Allen had saved his life and was offering shelter.

They made their way to Allen's apartment. As soon as they entered, he explained the situation to one of his dads. The man was slightly short, and he had wild pink hair and a heterochromia.

He instantly was fretting over Luciano, getting him an ice pack, having him lie down on Allen's bed, and making sure his foot was elevated. He also checked for any other wounds, only finding a few scrapes and bruises.

He asked Luciano if he was hungry, but Luciano was not. He was just sleepy. Allen watched over Luciano for the rest of the night.

The morning after, Luciano called his parents using Allen's house phone and gave them the address. His parents were angry, but more relieved that he was okay.

While he waited for them to pick him up, he met Allen's other dad. He was the same height as his partner, he had straight, chin length blond hair and his eyes were such a dark blue that they almost looked violet. He shared a story of how he tried to run away from home when he was younger as well.

He also met Allen's twin brother Matt. A boy as rough and tough as Allen himself. He was Allen's fraternal twin, his blond hair, dark blue eyes, lighter completion, and taller height being a dead give away.

When his parents arrived, they apologized and thanked the men and Allen profusely. After that, their parents stayed in touch and they were able to spend time together.

All throughout elementary, middle, high school, and even college, they remained close.

In high school, Luciano realized that when he thought of Allen, he did not feel the way people who were just "friends" would. He knew that he had fallen for his best friend. He didn't want to ruin their friendship if Allen didn't feel the same way, so he hid his feelings.

There were times is Luciano wondered if maybe Allen felt the same way. They way he would smile when he looked at Luciano was different. It was genuine and warm, and it turned his mind to mush.

In their first year of college, after a party, Luciano drunkenly confessed his feelings for Allen. Allen, who had had less to drink than Luciano and was more sober, was shocked.

He had been feeling the same way all those years, but he also avoided confessing for the same reasons. He wanted to have a serious conversation with Luciano when he was sober, so he waited to act on their mutual feelings.

They started a relationship that same week and it was strong throughout their college years. They would have disagreements now and then, but they could always work things out.

After their graduation ceremony, Allen proposed to Luciano. He was so surprised, he couldn't speak. He just nodded madly while tears streamed down his face.

At their wedding party after the ceremony, they told all who attended about their first meeting, how Allen was a hero, fearless and protective.

They danced the rest of the night away. Luciano's head resting on Allen's chest as they slow danced. He was thankful for the steady heartbeat of the love of his life.

Now, watching Allen having a pillow fight with their adopted son, he couldn't help but be thankful that his parents had moved them to America. If it wasn't for them, he wouldn't have met his other half.
