The chime above the door jingled signaling that a costumer had entered. I looked up from the front counter as a teen girl strolled up. She looked to be about 16 and very hyper. Just what she needs, coffee. “Hello, what can I get for you?” I asked as cheery as I could.
“Hi, could I please get a vanilla frappe?” She asked.
“Of course. That’ll be $3.25, please.” I replied. She handed me the money and walked away. I got her drink ready and handed it off to her, she walked out the door as the chime jingled again. Being a barista at Starbucks can get pretty boring sometimes. You do the same thing over and over again everyday, nothing interesting ever happens.
It was finally my lunch break, so I went back to the staff lounge and pulled out my phone. I sent a text to my best friend Isabelle.
Me: Hey girl, god work is so boring.
I put my phone down and relaxed for a couple minutes before I went back to work. I felt my phone vibrate, I pulled it out of my pocket.
Isabelle: Hey lovely, I’m sorry! Come hang out at my place after work! The new Ghost Adventures is on! ;P
Me: Yay! I can’t wait to watch, it’s the only thing I have to look forward each week! x) And I don’t have to work tomorrow, so is it cool if I just crash at your place?
Isabelle: Of course! You’re always welcome here!
Me: Thanks love! I have to get back to work, see you laterrrr!
Isabelle: Bye babe! See ya.(:
I slid my phone back in my pocket and drummed my fingers against the counter. Evening time was always slow, everyone was still at work. It was almost time for the dinner rush soon though, so at least boredom will only be another half an hour longer.
Work was finally over, and the dinner rush was still going. Thank god I don’t have to deal with it anymore, some people are just plain rude. I grabbed my bag from the staff lounge and headed out the door. I hopped in my black Jeep Commander and raced home, eager to get over to Isabelle’s.
Once I reached my driveway, I shut off the Jeep and raced inside. I took a quick shower and grabbed some things that I would need for tomorrow. Once I thought I had everything I needed; I grabbed some toys and food for my puppy, his name is Demon and he’s a Pomsky (Pomeranian Husky mix). He was the cutest thing ever. “Come on Demon! It’s time to go over to Izzy’s.” I shouted, he raced through the back door and slid to a stop in front of me. I turned around and headed for the door, but Summer was standing right behind me, scaring the living shit out of me. “God damn, Summer! You scared the living shit out of me!” I almost yelled at the little twelve-year old.
“Sorry Amaryllis. I didn’t mean to, I just wanted to know what you were packing for.” She said innocently. Summer is the little ghost girl that lives with me, or I guess you could say “resides” in my house. Yes, I can see and communicate with the dead, I have been able to since I was a young age. It doesn’t really scare me anymore, only the ones who try to hurt me.
