Chapter: 26

Kenzie's P.O.V:

I carefully stepped in the back entrance, knife at the ready just waiting for a damn walker to attack me.

'All clear Jensen said rounding the first corner that led to the main lobby where we met him that night. A small smile played on Jensen lips

'What you smiling at?' Norman asked giving him a strange look as he backed up to the wall his bow ready to be shot if need be.

'It's nothing really, I was just remembering standing over there.' he pointed to the lobby 'and turning around seeing how beautiful Kenzie looked that night.' he blushed

'Aww that is so sweet.' I lean up and kiss him.

'Kids no time for make out.' Ruby scalded us I nodded and got back into position.

'Ugh would it not be a helluva lot quicker, and I know you guys aren't going to like this but if we split up, each take a floor?' I suggested

'No way in hell!' Jensen replied instantly, I furrowed my brows.

'You know, Ruby is right this Macho bullshit is going to piss me off, listen I get you care, I get you want to protect us but where not children and we are not useless, now it makes sense to take a floor each you know it, but just won't admit it.' I said very pissed of.

'Norman and Jensen share a glance at each other then to Andrew.'

'She does have a point, I am not thrilled to have to agree to letting them go off alone, I’d rather we be grouped but if the three girls stick together on one floor I am sure they will be fine.' Andrew said

'Yes exactly.' Ruby nodded

'Okay fine you win. Take this floor we will go check the rest. But t least promise you will stick together?' Norman sad walking up to Ruby placing his hand on her cheek.

'We promise now go.' she said

'Here bolt up the main doors, lock the back one but do not chain it, we might need it to escape.' Andrew said handing me a chain and pad lock. I nodded as they all headed up the stairs.

We I hurry to the main doors chaining and locking them shut tight, while Melissa and Ruby got my back.

'We should check the restaurant for food supplies while we are down here' Ruby suggested pointing to the restaurant. I nod and lead the way. Being as stealthy as I could. I peaked around the corner and saw nothing so I gave the all clear and we went in weapons at the ready, the whole restaurant was clear so we made our way back to the kitchen, I carefully swing open the big swinging double doors that separated the kitchen from the restaurant floor. I stopped and listened for any sounds of groans or shuffling. But couldn't hear anything. So I gave the all-clear again

'Check everywhere see what you can find but stay close to each other.' Ruby said as she made her way right I went left and Melissa checked the surrounding area. At my side there were two big walk in freezers so I gripped the handle and pulled it open knife at the ready.

As soon as the freezer door was open a walker jumped out falling on top of me making me crash to the ground making me drop the knife, it slide across the floor out of my grasp. I had to try and keep it from biting me.

'Help, guys help.' I called out and Melissa was the first to reach me she kicked it off me before standing over it and plunging her knife into its head while I scrambled to my feet, my heart pounding so hard I heard it beat in my ears. Swallowing hard I had to force the tears back.
