An hour later, Callum arrived. By this point, the pain I had felt begin in my head had now slithered it's way down my entire body, radiating through my skin.

I wasn't entirely in the mood to talk, I wasn't in the mood to really do anything but writhe around in agony. I should have earlier asked for more meds, but I had wanted to do it on my own, I needed the reminder that I was still human, still alive, fragile yet strong

Duke remained uncomfortable, his body stiffening when he left the room to answer the front door. I forced my body up, the pain shooting right through the movement with rage.

Seconds later, the door to my room was pushed open and in appeared Callum.
His face instantly made my pain lesser.
He was dressed as he usually was for work, cargo jeans, a white loose T with a single pocket on the right side.
He'd had a haircut, shortly shaved sides bringing a whole new definition to his face.

Duke gave me a small nod and an assuring smile before leaving, shutting the door behind himself.
As Callum slowly approached me, he seemed unsure. His hands were shoved into his jeans pockets, his eyes searching my face.

I smiled, adoring his awkward demeanour

"I won't bite" I jokingly told him, urging him forward

His expression quickly lightened as he walked towards me with more pace, stopping when he stood at the foot of the bed

"How you doing?" I asked, engaging in casual conversation

"You're asking me how I'm doing?" He raised his eyebrows at me

"Me? I'm fine, what about you?" I continued, smirking at him as I waved a hand in the air, brushing my 10/10 pain off

He shook his head and smiled back

"I'm good" He answered walking beside the bed where Duke had been sitting

He seemed to look at the empty spot, considering whether or not to sit down.
I patted the space with my hand giving him the go ahead which he happily took

"So what's the damage?" He started, his eyes searching over me

"No one told you?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowing

He shook his head, his emerald eyes meeting mine

"My ribs were shattered, my wrist was broken, some internal bleeding and some damaged organs" I informed him, shrugging

"Ouch" He smiled, easing up his tension

"Yeah, it's pretty intense" I naturally winced out

"Are you in pain?" He quickly asked, looking over my body, then to the cannula and drip attached to my hand

I weakly smiled before answering "The meds wore off not too long ago" I told him honestly

"Have you asked for more?"

I sighed "I don't want to be hounding for drugs every 3 hours"

"Hounding for drugs?" He repeated "Rosie, you've just been through hell and back, if you need meds, ask for them" He told me forcefully as he stood up

"Sorry" I mumbled as I watched him fumble around with the stand of medical supplies beside the bed, reading the labels in search of the most appropriate

"Here" He said, feeding a syringe of clear liquid through my cannula "It should kick in pretty quick"

"Thanks" I smiled as he walked back around to the other side and sat down beside me again

"Callum" I began carefully, watching him" I wanted to tell you how grateful I am for what you did for me"

He smiled and shrugged, his eyes on mine
