"The type of business that my parents do, it isn't really what you would call normal" He began

I didn't say anything, I just listened.

"Rosie, I don't want you to freak out or anything, but I want to tell you that, I know, I know what your boyfriend is" He said it slowly, confirming what I already somewhat knew.

I nodded, looking at my fidgeting hands in my lap
"I sort of figured" I mumbled.

"You did?" He asked, surprised

"And I'm pretty sure I know what you are" I continued

"You do?" He spoke again

"An Angel?" I assumed, looking up at his unreadable expression

He was frozen, staring at me, and then he sighed, his expression dropping

"Who told you?" He asked, not looking at me

"A friend" I answered simply

"I'm that business opportunity aren't I? You're trying to take me away from them" I began, feeling angry at him

"Rosie, they are killers" He tried, staring at me

"You have no idea what you are talking about Callum" I started as I stood.
He had no idea how much those 'killers' had helped me over the past year.

"Those 'killers' saved me. Numerous times. They have given me love, a family, friendship, everything I have never had before. Where were you when I was nearly killed? Where were you when my mother was killed? My father?" I continued

"I wasn't assigned to you back then, nor your parents, I didn't know about any of that" He defended as he stood up "None of it would have happened if you weren't staying with them. You should have left them, escaped with your life after the first incident" He continued

"You have no idea about my life, or anything to do with my life Callum. I have no one except them. They give me everything" I argued

"Like what? A fancy house? A handsome desirable Vampire boyfriend?"

"You know what? Forget it. I don't have to explain any of this to you"
I attempted to storm off, but his strong grip grabbed the top of my arm, stopping me.

"I won't just forget it Rosie. I care about you"

I turned my head, but didn't look at him "You only care, because its a job for you. I'm just some exam that you need to pass" I spat

"That was before I got to know you, I care about you more than I should. You are an amazing woman and I hate to see you wasting your life away with those dead souls"

My blood boiled at his words.
They weren't dead souls. Those dead souls made me feel more alive than what I actually was. I loved them.

"I'm in love with one of those dead souls thanks" I spat again

"Because you havn't known any other love Rosie" His voice was soft

I closed my eyes and sighed.
I'd never thought about it like that. But I had had boyfriends before, and none of them ever compared to Duke.
I was sure nothing would ever compare to him, I didn't want anyone else to compare to him.

"I love him Callum, and nothing you say or do is going to take me away from him, so if I was you, I would ask for a new project subject" I growled, keeping my voice low as I wriggled my arm from his grip.

"You aren't a project to me and you know it. I need to save you from this, not just for myself, but for you. You can have a normal life and be happy Rosie. Think about it. Does he struggle to keep himself in control when he kisses you, when he hugs you, when you bleed" I felt his hand reach out towards mine and take a hold of my bandages.
