Chapter 13

(A little Exploring and a little Information)

“Can I get out of this dress now?” Callista asked after they had arrived at Goblin Castle. Aidan looked at her a little surprised. “Please?” She pleaded.

“I assume you would like your athletic apparel?” The Goblin King said. She’d barely nodded and found herself wearing her jersey and shorts before she could blink.

“Awesome!” Callista said very pleased. “Thanks.”

“You are quite welcome princess,” He replied.

“I’m not a princess yet,” The teenage girl reminded him.

“Ah but you are,” King Aidan informed her. Confused the girl looked at Cavin.

“You have formally accepted King Soren as your father. He accepted you the night of the ball,” Cavin said. Realizing Callista still didn’t understand he added, “You have not been named the Pixie princess but you are already the princess of the dark elves.”

“Oh,” The teenage girl said. The thought she would be a dark elf princess had never occurred to her. Even if her father was the dark elf king.

“It will probably be some time before your father arrives,” The Goblin king announced. “It is still light enough if you would like to spend a little time within the Labyrinth.”

“Really?” Callista said hopeful. “I can see it now?”

A small smile crossed the face of the Goblin King. Never had he met anyone with such an eagerness to see his Labyrinth. “I will take you.” He looked at Cavin and said, “You are welcome to join us. She is of course safe in the Labyrinth if you would like to rest. You have been awake for quite some time after all.”

     “Thank you majesty but..”

“No rest,” Callista told her guards. “I know you haven’t slept in a quite some time. I’ll be perfectly safe with King Aidan in his Labyrinth.”

“We will rest after your father arrives and decisions are made,” Cavin announced. “I know you want to see the labyrinth so we should go while it is light enough.”

King Aidan waived his hand and they were just inside the gates of the labyrinth. The large steel gates were closed. “I assumed you’d want to start from the beginning.”

“Kinda thought we’d start outside the gate,” The teenager commented. “Still we are at the beginning.”

“Outside the gate is outside the Labyrinth,” The Goblin King informed her. “No one inside the Labyrinth can be touched. Since I am currently responsible for your safety we stay within the Labyrinth.”

“Okay,” Callista said. She turned around and walking forward she saw there was two ways to go. Right or left? “Do I get to choose?” She inquired.

“I will only stop you if you make a decision that could get you hurt agreed?” King Aidan said. Callista nodded and he motioned for her to choose. She looked right and then left. She thought for a moment and then went to the right. Her guards and Aidan followed.

Callista made several decisions with no interruptions from the Goblin King at all. A small smile graced his lips that caught Cavin’s attention.

“She’s doing well isn’t she?” Cavin said so that only Aidan would hear him.

“Indeed,” The Goblin King replied. “Better than anyone I’ve seen in the past.”
