Liberty

The following poem commemorates the independence of every country and men especially from conquerors such as Philippines, my homeland, during the old period.

All the wars in every age

were broken with a spoken rage—

"Liberty!"

Children and old with great desire

sang with hearts, with glee, as choir—

"Liberty!"

My homeland, with a void of right,

raised his men for Freedom's fight—

"Liberty!"

Chains 'neath our feet released

as if caught birds just flew with ease—

"Liberty!"

Dying men barely rose upon

although drop of blood was gone—

"Liberty!"

Shouts were heard in every phase

heroic voices of sires did raise—

"Liberty!"

People in unsanitary work

took the hours of day to shirk—

"Liberty!"

From the farthest islet shore

Where I heard their cries and roar—

"Liberty!"

I heard it from the top of the clouds

I heard it and shall hear it clear and loud—

"Liberty!"
