Poverty: The Effect of Today

Starving children around the world

whose cries remain unheard

greedy people with riches and all

ignoring their little word

Even we have more than enough,

we are afraid to share

abandoned children on streets

Scampered for tender care

delegates of our government

we are afraid to let go some of our wealth

likewise ordinary people

who think only for themselves

If a child on the streets who was nothing is willing to share

why are we, we have everything, still so greedy?

Is this what you want to show to my fellow children

from the next generations to see?

We have the privileged life

with plenty of food, water and shelter

no wonder, we have a large gap

between the rich and the meager

If all the money spent on war was spent on eding poverty,

what a wonderful place this world would be

Let us eradicate the existence of inequality

we must become the change we want to see

I could be a victim of war in the Middle East

I could be a child starving in Somalia,

a child living in the favelas of Rio

or a scavenger for food in India

I know that we're all in this together

and should act as one

to start a tremendous difference

and end this mischief we begun
