My Brother's Best Friend

Chapter 8

I was in that happy state between being asleep and awake when Elizabeth called. I groaned, rolled over and reached for my phone.

"Hello?" I said somewhat angrily.

"Hi Mandi, it's me," Elizabeth said, "Can we hang out today?"

"Uh, sure. The guys are out at the mall today anyway so we've got the whole apartment to ourselves," I said.

"Yay! Girls night in!" she replied happily. Well it was more of a girls day in, but I wasn't about to stress the technicalities.

"So, see you in an hour?" I suggested.

"Sounds great," Elizabeth said, "Bye."

"Bye," I said. 

After I hung up, I jumped out of bed to get ready. An hour later, I was wearing this and waiting for Elizabeth to arrive. 

"Hey, Mandi! Guess who's keeping you company today?" Niall said, sitting next to me with a huge smile.

"Hm.... Is it you by any chance?" i asked.

"How'd you guess?" he asked, pretending to be surprised.

"Wild guess," I said, laughing slightly, "So why am I so honored as to be spending the day with THE Niall Horan?"

"I didn't sleep all that well last night so I'm taking a miss on the shopping and staying here," he explained, "The boys are bringing back something for us to eat though."

Well, it looks like our 'girls night/day in' just became a 'girls and guy night/day in'. I didn't mind though. Niall was cool and I was sure Elizabeth would be happy to see him. The doorbell rang and I got up to open it.

"Hey, Ebit," I said, smiling.

"Hi," she said.

"So it turns out we're actually going to have to share the apartment with Niall because he's not going shopping. You okay with that?"

"Um, yeah, definitely," she said, trying not to sound too excited. 

I smiled, "Want some popcorn?"

"Yeah, sounds good," Elizabeth said, waving at Niall. Niall waved back and they both blushed slightly (a lot).

Seriously, how did they NOT know they liked each other? I started making popcorn and sent Elizabeth and Niall to pick a movie.

"So what have you chosen?" I asked, sitting next to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth grabbed the popcorn from me and started eating it, "Um, we're deciding between The Muppets and A Walk to Remember. Thoughts?"

"I vote A Walk to Remember," I said.

"Okay, A Walk to Remember it is," Niall said with a sigh, putting it into the DVD player.

After the movie, Elizabeth and I decided to paint our nails and do other fun stuff while Niall took a nap.

"Did you see the way Niall was looking at you during the movie?" I asked as I painted my nails.

"You're delusional," Elizabeth said, "He didn't look at me once."

"No, he looked at you exactly once and never stopped looking," I said, "He couldn't take his eyes off you."

"Yeah, ooookay," she said sarcastically.

"Why don't you believe me when it's so obviously written all over his face?" I asked.

"Why don't you believe me when I say you're delusional?" she countered.

I sighed dramatically, "You're never going to come to your senses, are you?"
