"Church, really?" Vic murmured as I was straightening out the tie nana was making me put on him. It was one of grandpa's old ties, but she wanted Vic to have it, especially for our Sunday morning trips to church.

"Oh come on, church isn't that bad." I said, rolling my eyes in amusement. "Do you not believe in our lord and savior?"

Vic snorted at my dramatic tone. "I do, but I just don't believe that you actually need to attend a service every Sunday just to prove that you do."

He had a point, and admittedly I kinda agreed, but it was a family thing. Over the past five weeks that Vic had been with us, nana had let him off the hook when it came to our Sunday service, so he had some time to adjust. He really did want to stay, and though nana was just teasing when she said it, she told him that he needed to prove himself. It was cute to see him try and impress nana. The whole church thing however didn't really sit well with him.

"Well fine, you tell me, what's the best part about going to church?" Vic then asked.

I finished doing his tie and placed my hands on his shoulders with a small sigh. "When the service ends and we get to have a huge lunch with the entire family." I admitted bitterly.

Vic laughed and rested his forehead against mine. "See? Told ya."

I rolled my eyes and smiled, stepping back to take a look at him. With grandpa's tie and one of my cousin's dress shirts and black jeans, he looked pretty decent. Well I mean- he looked more than decent, of course... but decent enough for church.

"Well either way, you're coming, unless you want to feel nana's wrath." I then said.

"Is that when her eyes go all wide, steam blows out of her ears and she starts chasing you with her slipper while yelling random Spanish profanities?"

I simply nodded in confirmation. He had already witnessed nana chasing after my cousins a few times by now.

"Yeah alright, I'm coming."

After my two cousins were finally done getting dressed as well, the eldest one drove us all to church. There we briefly met up with some of the family members before finally entering to take our seats.

"Ah, you've brought your boyfriend this time." A kind and familiar voice spoke up as Vic and I walked inside. He hadn't let go of my hand for even a second, but I didn't mind because I knew he was nervous about meeting the rest of my family.

"Good morning, Father Martinez." I greeted, thinking momentarily about how I was going to react to what he said. Vic and I had never really made it official, but I guess it didn't matter, right? "And yes indeed I did. Can he sit with me?"

Vic glanced at me, a small smile tugging at his lips.

"Of course he can- just no hanky-panky, Kelli. You know the rules. And welcome to God's house, Vic."

I giggled a little at Father Martinez's comment while I noticed Vic's face going red. "Of course not, Father. You know I'm not like that."

Father Martinez simply smiled and went out of our way so we could take our seats. He wasn't really super strict, so I didn't mind the comment he made. It was funny anyway.

After Vic and I both sat down, I couldn't help but to notice how he kept fidgeting with his fingers. Was he really that nervous or had I made him uncomfortable? But before I could even ask, he already spoke up.

"So I'm your boyfriend?" He asked quietly.

I was a little surprised by his question, but didn't react on it. Instead I just smiled. "Well I mean, you say you love me, and I love you. So I kinda figured, you know. I'm sorry."

Vic then shook his head and finally looked up at me with a wide smile etched onto his beautiful face. "No, don't be sorry. I want to be your boyfriend, and maybe something more someday, if you'll still have me."

I smiled, about to respond to what he'd just said, but he cut me off by planting his lips on mine while resting his hands on my thighs. And even though we were at church, I kissed him back anyway.

"Oh young love, such a beautiful thing." I then heard Father Martinez say, instantly making Vic pull away from me. "But what did I say earlier?"

I rolled my eyes and chuckled. "No hanky-panky, Father Martinez, I know."

He just winked in response and walked off to the front of the sanctuary. I couldn't help but to giggle at the whole thing, and luckily that made Vic laugh too. Finally, he relaxed a little.

The Sunday service went by as usual. We prayed, we sang and we listened to Father Martinez's usual preach. And Vic finally admitted that it wasn't as bad as he thought it was. But then he laughed and took it back when I gave him a skeptical look.

After that was over, we walked with the entire family to my uncle's house and sat down in his yard for our family lunch. Everyone was very welcoming to Vic and honestly he fit right in with the rest of us.

Or at least, he was comfortable enough to grab me by the hips and pull me onto his lap at the table after I had helped my aunt and nieces set everything up. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my cheek as everyone else just chatted away and caught up with each other.

"I really like this." He said softly as he smiled. "This whole family thing, I never thought I'd actually get to experience it. I never thought it was real."

"Well, you better get used to it, son. Because I don't think this one will be letting you go anytime soon." My uncle then said, messing up my hair as he stood by our side.

Vic gave my uncle a nod and then smiled at me. "Well I kinda hope she won't."

He quickly pecked my cheek again and everyone awwed in response. Even I had honestly never been this happy before.

Mama then grabbed her drink and raised it up in the air as she smiled at us. "To Vic, the newest addition to our loco family." She said, to which everyone else raised their glass too, aye-ing in approval.
