Chapter Ten

Beau’s POV

I woke up early this morning and my stomach was growling.

I wanted to find the kitchen and make Riannon and myself some breakfast in bed. It was only 7:30 so I assumed the only ones awake would be Mr. and Mrs. Thomas.

It would give me time to get to know them more and for them to understand that I am not just some fling that their daughter is having. I don’t know but I think I found the love of my life.

I knew that they knew who I was but I was not going to let them know that I knew that they were responsible for my father.

I crawled out of the bed as quickly and quietly as possible so that I didn’t wake Riannon up. I wanted to surprise her and show her how romantic I could be for her.

I snuck out the room and heard arguing as I was going down the stairs. Riannon had a whole floor to herself so it took me a while to understand the layout of their humongous mansion.

As I got closer to the kitchen, I could make out what Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were arguing about.

“You cannot tell them yet,” Mrs. Thomas yelled at her husband. I wondered what they were hiding from their kids.   “Well, Janette what do you want me to do? They are our kids we can’t just skip the country and not tell them anything,” Mr. Thomas replied calming his voice towards his wife.   “That boy of Riannon’s isn’t helping either,” Mrs. Thomas said very matter of factly. (not too sure that’s a word)   What did I have to do with anything? I knew what I had to do with Mr. Thomas but I couldn’t think what that would have to do with Riannon, JT, and Cassi.

What Mrs. Thomas had said clicked in my head. They were going to flee the country.

Oh, No they can’t take her away from me yet that would be too painful. I stopped walking down and sat where I was so I could hear the rest of the conversation. Not because I was nosey, but because I was curious. Mr. Thomas seemed like such a nice guy, what could he have possibly have done that would make him want to leave?

I knew that my father had been put on security detail but I had no idea why. “Well, I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. He was my bodyguard. He was supposed to take a hit for me. I just didn’t mean for it to paralyze the poor guy. I heard he was still in a coma,” Mr. Thomas said and I couldn’t help but let the puzzle pieces come together.

My father was a bodyguard of some hotshot businessman I knew that Riannon’s Dad was responsible for my father’s condition but I didn’t understand why he had to go away.   Hearing how my dad had taken a bullet for someone else made me feel like I couldn’t help but be proud of my father for sticking up for Mr. Thomas but everything had to happen like this. I wasn’t fair. Why would Mr. Thomas have to go just because he caused someone to be in a coma?

I took me all I had not to walk into the kitchen and strangle her dad until he gave me some answers.   I slowed my heartbeat so I could continue to listen. I had to understand more before I went back to Riannon.   She obviously didn’t know that I was someone her father knew. She wouldn’t know about my dad then either. That means she must not know anything about her father.

“I know honey; he was just doing his job.” Mrs. Thomas soothed her sobbing husband.

“I thought that a week off the map would make people think that we had left. Now we have to leave for good.” he didn’t stop crying and I felt sorry for them. They had their share of family problems like I did. I had to remain strong for Riannon because I sounded to me like she was in for a world of hurt when she found out the truth about her father.
