Raindrops fell, pitter patter, pitter patter
Went through the hole at the heart of the tin roof
There on the window-ledge she stood aloof
As raindrops fell, pitter patter, pitter patter.
Rain went on pouring, pitter patter
Heart singing bitter batter, bitter batter
Too much of it, the scene,
She could no more bear.
Pointless to continue hoping
When the answer's in front of her glaring
Rain poured on the roof, pitter patter, pitter patter
So she retreated and chose to surrender.
