*Arianna Lancaster*

I was strange to my self now. It wasn’t me anymore who stepped out on the land of cosmopolitan.

I was now called Mrs. Lancaster, spouse of the Jr. Lancaster – not by choice. I couldn’t believe I landed exactly where I never ever have imagined being. If it wasn’t for that presumptuous, arrogant and insanely audacious guy that called himself my Husband, I’d still be me.

Shrugging off the bitterness, I followed Chase into the black Limo that was waiting for us. I had Milo in my arms all the time because I was afraid to let him down. Chase would want to keep him away from himself –me, especially. He would want to leave me with nothing.

Once we hit the road, the silence in between us was broken by his fake cough.

“Please don’t do that.” I told him curtly, not looking his way.

“Do what?”

“If you have to talk to me, just call my name.” I looked at him and found him already staring at me. Startled by the way he looked at me; I clutched at Milo a little harder which made him queasy and he barked. I quickly looked away from Chase’s penetrating gaze.

“If I have to talk to you, I’ll talk the way I want and you’ll listen.” His tone was amusing but commanding, like always. “Now, Arianna…” he called out my name as an order and I couldn’t help but look at him. “My Father has invited both of us for dinner at his mansion and for some days, we will be staying with them.”

“But I—” I started but he cut me in the mid sentence.

“Not that I’ll enjoy with you but it’s my mother’s request and you don’t have much choice.” He smiled sarcastically at me and then eyed Milo, who leaped on me, as Chase’s gray eyes bored at him. “Keep this little thing of yours away from everything. I don’t want it breaking any of the antiques, plus…” he gazed at me this time with smirk dancing in his expressions. “…nobody is fan of dogs in our family…” I knew he was lying. “…especially me.” he finished his command and smirked relaxing back in his place.

“Don’t worry…” I started, calming my nerves. “…he’s not a very big fan of jerks too.” I couldn’t help but smirk as his face went blank. “But he loves biting who ever annoy him

There was nothing more that we could argue about because we reached his Father’s mansion. Before Chase could order Milo away, Louisia took him in leaving me gazing at the building. If it was possible, my would’ve dropped to the floor. The mansion was the most beautiful I had ever seen. It was huge, old building but exquisite and well-maintained. In the darkness of the night it glowed in honey lights from every corner.

All I could do was gasp silently at the beauty of the estate. Inside and outside, it was very beautiful and rich but elegant. Soon we were seated across Chase’s parents and after formal greetings, no one spoke. The tension between Chase and his Father was so crude that I could feel it hitting me like gust of winds every now and then. Quickly after dinner, Chase was told to see this Father in his study and I was left alone in a totally new place with a sweet stranger sitting across me… Chase’s mother… My mother-in-law.

*Chase Lancaster*

I found my Father smoking cigar as I entered his study. He was standing, staring out of the window into the darkness with his back to me. Inhaling a lot of air I calmed my raging nerves and sat across the mahogany desk.
