Chapter 3

Seven years later ,I stood outside The Metropolitan City Police Department admiring the huge building ,soon I walked in and noticed Schmidt "Hey you ,you skipped out on breakfast " I said getting in line next to him ,which caused the guy next to us to glare "Save it I'm not moving " I said "Yea sorry Val ,its just I wanted to be the first in line or at least close enough " I nodded in agreement "Understood but next time call or text will you ,breakfast isn't the same " I said causing him to chuckle ,he turned away "Oh fuck " he said looking at me "What ,what is it ?" I whispered "Douche bag twelve0'clock "he said turning away "Uh Schmidt there's like a lot of a guys twelve0'clock " I say looking around "Its Jenko" I immediately stopped looking and faced Schmidt "Your fucking with me right ?" he shakes his head "I wish Val " "Okay well what are you doing trying to grab his attention" "I'm just taking a peek no need to worry ..and he saw me " "Great going moron " I pinched his arm "Not so slim -shady ...what's up holy shit " Jenko said ,Schmidt just gave him a small wave and looked back at me "Wait who's that next to you with the purple curly hair " yep that's right I dyed my hair ,for the start of this academy ,I sighed and moved so he could see me "My name is Valentine Hunter ,same girl you met in high school just more of a bitch " I whispered the last part and stood in line waiting to sign the wavers "Valentine Hunter?" "Here " the guy handed me my waver to sign after Schmidt ,I passed the pen to the next guy and got out of the line and walked to a corner "Hey ,Val right ?" I turned around "No Valentine " I said glancing around to keep from making eye contact "Right Valentine ,look I want apologize for all that happened in high school " I looked at him with seriousness "Sorry won't cut it " he rubbed the back of his neck "Listen ,you were a pretty big asshole in high school and not a day goes by that I wish I would've kicked your ass " I said walking away to the training center . After doing push-ups ,sit-ups and running a mile we came back in the training room. I was standing in the line of guys who were getting ready for the agility test "Jenko ,Schmidt your up " Jenko took Schmidt down in less than four seconds ,but respectfully helped him up "Schmidt your out ,alright Valentine Hunter your up " I walked up to the mat "Should I take it easy on you Hunter ?" Jenko said smirking ,I gave him a devilishly grin and let him pin me down ,I then kicked back up flipped and tripped him down " I think you meant something along the lines of I should take it easy on you " I say holding out my hand "Your one tough chick ,Hunter " he said making me blush "Uh yea thanks " . The next thing on the agenda was to take a police fire arm and safety test ,I quickly finished and turned it in .Schmidt went next and the last person was Jenko ,minutes later after we received them back "What did you get ?' asked Schmidt ,I showed him my paper "As if I should ask you " I hold in a chuckle "And how about you smart ass ?" he flipped the paper so I could see 100% as always too " I whisper "You guys are good at this bullshit huh ?" I nod "Yea I guess so " Schmidt says "You guys wanna be friends ?" he asked .

After a few days of training and testing ,we finally got a chance to take a break ,I headed to the park and sat on the grass looking at the children and their parents "You know they're going to think your a creep" I turned around to see ,Jenko standing on the spot next to me "Ha-ha very funny " ,he sat down and scooted closer "What are you doing here?" I asked looking at the clouds "I come here once in a while to throw a football around "Oh yea you were a hot stud in football " he chuckled at my remark "Yea so hey I've been meaning to ask you ,were you really going to ask me to prom ?" I stopped looking at the clouds and looked him in the eyes "Oh god ,um actually yea I was ,I wanted to see if you were really a dick like Schmidt said you were " he chuckled and smiled "I was a dick back in high school ,and if I would've just taken a moment to realize how gorgeous and smart you were " I began feeling the burning in my cheeks "Yea well um I don't know what to say to that " I say laying back ,he did the same "So do you have a boyfriend ... ?" I stared at him with wide eyes "What kind of question is that ?" "A serious one " I sit back up "Since when do jocks ask serious questions ?" "Okay believe it or not Valentine I have changed " I look away "We'll see how long that lasts " he playfully shoves me "Ouch hey watch it " I say giggling and shoving him .
