#12: he meets your family
requested from Hanna

"We've heard so many good things about you, Justin." Your mother gushed, smiling at your boyfriend from across the dinner table. Your dad begged to differ, his icy gaze taken notice by you while his mouth sucked at the wine in his glass.

"And here you are at last." Your mom grinned, her hands finding their way around the base of her wine glass. She brought the glass to her lips, tilting the glass up so the wine could slither into her mouth. "It's great to finally see all the great things our Hanna has been rambling on about in figure form."

Justin drew out a chuckle, nodding his head in response to your mom's reverence. "It's great to finally be here." He had said before forking down a chunk of the mashed potatoes. You could only smile at the warmth and kindness your mother expressed towards your new boyfriend.

"It's our pleasure, right (Y/Dad's/N?" Your mom peered over at your dad, who endured upon his glacial stare directed on Justin. Your eyebrows bonded together, mirroring the gaze he had on Justin in hopes of him taking notice of it.

"Sure. It's not like I had much of a choice of the kid coming over." Your dad growled, shoveling pieces of his steak into his mouth.

Justin stiffly moved around in his seat before he wrapped his fingers around his water glass to take in a sip. You rolled your eyes at you dad's snide comment and ignored it, hoping Justin would as well. Your dad was never a pro at getting to know boyfriends, but you've only brought or two prior to Justin.

"You better eat. It'll get cold." Your dad snapped at you, pointing the tip of his fork at your brimming dinner plate. You glanced over at your mom, who held a sympathetic look in her eyes, but did not say anything to you or Justin.

You grabbed your fork from the side of your plate, sticking it into the mashed potatoes before shoveling it into your mouth. Justin mirrored your actions, however, he was near to being finished with his dinner.

"It must be wonderful being able to travel around the world, getting to meet your supporters each time. I'm sure it gets stressful and tiring at times." Your mom spoke after no one had said anything after a while.

Justin cracked a grin, nodding his head while swiping away any food that could've been stuck on his lips. "It is a dream. Its what I've always wanted, but I'm just glad that I got lucky enough to do what I love for a career." Justin had addressed, bringing your mom to smile.

"How are you able to spend time with Hanna then, Justin? You're all the way across the globe while she's here in school. How do you guys possibly have time?" Your dad interjected, of course only having something negative to provide for the conversation.

You turn your head to look at Justin and he glanced at you only to find himself looking back at your dad again. "Well, I try my best to see Hanna as much as my schedule allows me to. Its not easy, but we make it work. I fly her out for a couple of days to visit me on tour or when I'm not able to fly out to wherever she is." He answered truthfully and your dad only chuckles lowly, catching both you and Justin by surprise.

"I want Hannah to be with someone who is there for her when she needs him, not some rich kid flying all over the damn globe, making money for no reason, and getting in trouble only to find himself on headline news with some stupid mistake he made. I don't want my daughter to be involved with your shit of a life." Your dad snarled, his voice growing enraged.

Your mouth fell agape and you looked over at your mom who held the same expression. "Would you excuse me for just a second." Justin questioned, more of told before making an exit from the dining room.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Your mom hissed at your dad, her anguish written in her face. You kept your mouth shut while you made an exit from the dining room in search of your boyfriend.

You mounted up the staircase, wandering towards your old bedroom where you knew that was where you were going to spot your boyfriend. Justin suspended on the surface of your mattress, his brown eyes locked on your ceiling instead of looking over at you when you entered the bedroom.

"Hey." You murmured softly, your feet carrying your towards your old bed.

Your touched down on the edge of the mattress and Justin's body caved in to your own as you did so. He did not glance at you, but instead eye-locked with the ceiling. You couldn't even picture how he must be feeling or thinking.

"Are you okay?" You found yourself asking Justin and you caught his hand in yours.

His tongue poked out from between the folds of his lips, wetting his mouth between it snuck back inside. "I don't know why your dad hates my fucking guts so much." Justin had finally confessed, bringing his forearm to conceal his eyes.

Justin held the upmost respect regarding your father and only answered his degratiom with the kindest answers he could muster, but your dad was not having any of it.

"He just needs to get to know you more, Justin. I'm sure if you showed him your true colors he'd love you." You replied with hopes of lifting his spirits.

Justin sat up, his dark eyes fixating on your own. His face was written with anger itself that no words needed to be let out to describe his expression. "Hanna, I showed that son of a bitch my true colors. I respect the hell outta the guy and all he thinks is that I'm some punk that dates his daughter with no care in the world about responsibilities." Justin gritted, catching you off guard.

You nodded your head, understanding his demeanor perfectly. "I know, I'm sorry. I don't know why I took his side."

Justin drew out a sigh, his body inching closer to yours before engulfing you in his arms. You both sat in silence, utterly clueless about what to say to each other.

"I don't care what he thinks because I love you and I know you, the real you. I don't need my dad's stupid opinion on you." You smiled before your mouth pressed against his temple.

A soft knock drawing from the door was enough to pull you away from Justin. "Come in?" You had said, wanting to know who was on the other side of the door.

The door pushed open and standing within the door farm was your dad. "What do you want?" You snarl at him and your dad sighed.

He moved into your bedroom and looked at you. "I'm sorry about tonight's dinner. I just get protective over Hanna. I am never typically like that and I gave off a pretty crappy impression tonight that doesn't reflect on how I really am. You're actually a good kid. You work your ass off I'm sure and you keep my daughter happy which is the only thing that matters I guess." Your dad said to Justin and Justin nodded his head.

"Thanks, Dad." You smiled and he bobbed his head.

"I'm sorry to you too, Hanna. He's definitely someone you should bring over again."

an: hoped you liked it, Hanna. I'm sorry it's so late from when you requested it and I just got done editing it tonight.  It's not perfect. Ps, I start school today.
