Zhang Cuimei had been in a bad mood lately. The progress between her daughter and Fu Yao was too slow for her liking, and she placed all the blame on Sinian. So, when she saw Sinian, her tone was naturally snide.

Feeling insulted by Sinian's words, Zhang Cuimei retorted, "You make it sound like the Su family has been heartless to you, eager to cut ties with us."

She then cast a disdainful glance at Zhou Yue Shen standing behind Sinian. According to her daughter, he was a butcher dealing with pigs all day, making him smell awful and dirty. And people from the countryside often didn't bother with personal hygiene, many of them rarely taking showers...

The thought of Sinian marrying someone like him made her feel nauseous.

"Also, stop bringing outsiders into our compound. What will people think?" she added.

Sinian picked up on her disdainful tone towards Zhou Yue Shen and was about to lose her temper when she felt a tug from behind. Turning around, she saw Zhou Yue Shen stepping forward, his tone calm, "Aunt, please cooperate with the household registration. The Lin family is waiting outside."

It wasn't particularly polite.

Hearing this, Zhang Cuimei was instantly furious!

He was indeed a rustic man, what kind of tone was that? Did he have any manners at all?

She had initially wanted to chase the two away, but Sinian's next words hit her right in the heart: "Even if not for me, consider Lin Sisi's feelings. She's been back for a while now and hasn't had her household registration transferred. She might be upset, after all, she is your biological daughter."

"Of course, if you're worried that I have ulterior motives for coming back, I can assure you that after the household registration is done, I won't step foot in this compound again. Will that work for you?"

Zhang Cuimei was taken aback by how reasonable Sinian was being. She had argued with her husband over the household registration issue before. Initially, she wanted to quickly transfer it back to prevent Sinian from bothering them. But her husband was concerned about his reputation, thinking that transferring it back so soon after sending Sinian away would invite gossip.

Furthermore, she felt sorry for Sinian being driven out and was worried about pushing her too hard.

Zhang Cuimei was frustrated. In her eyes, the biggest obstacle to transferring the household registration was Sinian. When Sinian suddenly brought up the issue herself, Zhang Cuimei couldn't help but wonder if she had been wrong.

"If you don't believe me, you're welcome to come with us," Sinian said when she saw Zhang Cuimei's lingering suspicion.

Zhou Yue Shen glanced at his wristwatch. "We still have forty minutes. I'll have someone wait and finish this before leaving."

He rarely wore a watch, only when traveling to keep track of time.

Zhang Cuimei couldn't help but glance at his silver wristwatch. It looked familiar; she remembered her boss had a similar one, which was quite expensive. He wore it for important events...

Thinking of Zhou Yue Shen's status, she immediately gave him a disdainful look. He didn't seem like a hypocritical person, though.

Unbelievable! He's so pretentious, even wearing a fake watch. It's unbearable! With someone like him, Sinian will be led astray sooner or later. Did he just say something about having his colleagues wait while he finishes this?

Zhang Cuimei immediately responded with disdain, "No need. My cousin works in that office. I'll give her a call. I won't come over. You can handle it, and give the household registration book to my cousin. She can bring it to me later, saving you the trip."

Without any intention of letting the two inside from the beginning, she went into the house to get the household registration book. As soon as she got it, she handed it over without a word.

Once the two left, Zhang Cuimei immediately called her cousin, asking her to keep an eye on the situation and make sure Sinian transfers her household registration soon.

Her cousin responded, "Sis, I don't handle household registrations. People are getting off work now. If she wants to do it, she'll have to wait until this afternoon or maybe tomorrow. Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on it for you."

Although Zhang Cuimei was eager, there was nothing she could do. She just looked down even more on the man who talked big. Even with her cousin working there, they couldn't expedite the process. Yet he confidently said they could have people wait to help with the paperwork, making it seem like he had connections. Ridiculous!

Upon leaving the courtyard, Sinian and Zhou Yue Shen were greeted with smiles from Lin's mother, who was holding little Yao Yao.

Sinian said, "It'll take about twenty minutes to get to the Public Security Bureau. Let's hurry."

She reached out to hold Yao Yao, who had become increasingly attached to her. Whenever Sinian was around, Yao Yao clung to her. However, she was also well-behaved. When Sinian was busy, Yao Yao would let someone else take care of her without fussing or crying, patiently waiting for Sinian.

Lin's mother always praised Yao Yao for being such a thoughtful child.

To save time, they hailed a cab to the Public Security Bureau. But by the time they arrived, it was already closing time.

"Why are you just getting here? I've been waiting here, listening to my sister, thinking you'd come soon! It's already lunchtime. Go wait outside and come back in the afternoon!" Zhang Xiaoyun complained.

Because her cousin had repeatedly urged her to keep an eye on things, Zhang Xiaoyun had waited at the entrance.

She had met Sinian before but didn't particularly like her. The reason was clear: Sinian was stunningly beautiful and excelled in every way, making her own daughter seem inferior. During family gatherings, everyone would praise Sinian's excellence, making her own daughter seem lackluster in comparison.

Moreover, Sinian was arrogant and never seemed to care about winning their favor, which only added to Zhang Xiaoyun's dislike.

Now, hearing that Sinian was not their biological relative and was planning to transfer her household registration, Zhang Xiaoyun was both shocked and secretly pleased.

The once highly-regarded Sinian, who was considered an honor to their family and was supposed to marry the son of a high-ranking official, was now transferring her household registration to the countryside... Tsk, tsk.

There was no need to try and please her anymore.

The tone was not just impatient but also disdainful. Upon hearing Zhang Xiaoyun's words, Lin's parents' faces darkened. "Wasn't it just ten more minutes?"

"Ten minutes, what can you do in ten minutes? No need to wait in line, just for your special service!" Zhang Xiaoyun sneered, seeing the simple attire and rustic appearance of the two, immediately identifying them as Sinian's biological parents.

"Who is she?" Zhou Yueshen asked, looking at Sinian.

"She's my foster aunt's cousin, working here," Sinian explained.

Zhou Yueshen nodded, not pressing further. Instead, he turned to Lin's parents, who seemed a bit lost. "Let's go inside, Lin Uncle, Lin Aunt."

Though Lin's parents were puzzled, seeing their son-in-law speak so, they didn't question it and just nodded.

Seeing them about to be ignored, Zhang Xiaoyun suddenly became furious and blocked their way. "Are you deaf? I said the bureau is closing soon. Come back in the afternoon, why don't you listen?"

The group halted. Zhou Yueshen's brows furrowed, his voice low and cold, "It's still working hours. We have every right to handle our affairs now. Please step aside."

"Who works here, you or me? Can't understand human language?" Zhang Xiaoyun was intimidated by his stern gaze but quickly remembered her own status and straightened her back.

"What are you shouting about!"

Just then, a strong voice resonated from inside.
